I agree - somewhat. There is obviously an over woke problem in the military - and the over the top DEI programs - Hegseth could be useful to clean out that problem. But a former junior-field grade officer will unfortunately have zero experience with actually running one of the largest organizations on the planet that a Fleet Admiral, Corps Commander, Wing Commander level flag officer etc would have - why they can't find someone of Pete's mindset but additionally has the senior or staff officer level operational experience like a Schwarzkopf, Powell, Abrams, Horner, Nimitz Forrestal, Marshall from back in the day is too bad (and ever since McNamara actually they have been putting in mostly technocrats and political appointees instead anyhow). But then again - even combat experience itself can be irrelevant. Eisenhower aka IKE had no combat experience whatsoever and passed up Generals who had it like Macarthur and Patton even to become Supreme Commander and defeated the former Corporal with combat experience known as Adolf H. so well give Pete a chance see how it goes.

@ I am sure there are other more seasoned and qualified candidates out there who can address the issues of ‘wokeness’ (whatever the hell that is) and DEI significant and negative impacts in the military. POTUS is the commander in chief and he can definitely pick the best qualified candidate for this very important role with the same view on ‘wokeness’ and DEI. The thing about trump is he likes to hire people that looks great on camera who strokes his ego. There are serious stuff going on in the world and we should send in the best and well qualified to do the job.
