I tell my son that his Father was born in 1971 and because of that I got to listen and be around when rap/hip hop was at it's pinnacle. I tell him about my friend who was good friends with Tupac in Marin city aka "The Jungle" and told him about how Wrestlers talk about always maintaining K Fab, basically staying in character, today's rappers are average dudes, their material doesn't touch the masses, just certain niches. Rap back then was universal in how in changed lives. You had all walks of life and people and culture trying to emulate rappers like Nas, Big Daddy Kane, Krs-1. Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth had real messages in their music. Many others as well, now we drill rap that doesn't unite. It kills and keeps us separated/divided and these labels love it. They put life insurance policies out on these literally here today gone tomorrow rappers, keep their masters and on to the next. Very sad.
