I heard this last night on the news and was shocked to hear of his passing. I love Marty Brennaman's call on his record breaking hit.

This was from the WLWT Cincinnati telecast; Marty Brennanan and Joe Morgan were the commentators. Although the game wasn't nationally televised in its entirety, Major League Baseball allowed CNN to cut-in and simulcast the WLWT broadcast whenever Pete Rose came to bat.

No, it was Joe Nuxhall. He was Marty’s radio partner . Joe Morgan was on TV.

That is a stupid argument that holds no validity. Sponsor or not, it does NOT change the fact that Players, coaches and league officials are forbidden to bet on baseball.. PERIOD.. Rose had his chance Had he owned up to his misdeeds apologized and asked for help, he'd be in the HOF as we speak. He LIED for 15 years and only admitted to it when he was trying to sell a book. He admitted to betting as a player AND manager. I am a lifelong Reds fan and Rose does NOT belong in the HOF

@@stevep8445 Well, players are forbidden to use PEDs. Yet there are suspected juicers in the HOF. Tell you what. Do an investigation of all the players in the HOF. Kick the bums out that don't belong there, and then I am OK with keeping Pete Rose out. Until that happens I will continue to think of it as the Hall of Hypocrites.

It's a damn shame that MLB didn't put Pete Rose in the hall of fame before he died -- especially now that times have changed, and sports betting is a source of revenue for MLB.

Where I lived near an American League team so I never really saw Rose play except for WS and national TV. But, I do wonder if Rose would have beat Cobb's record during Cobb's time. How many of Rose's hits scooted through the fast NL astro turf infields, those unreal bounces too. And, modern MLB played more games, had livelier balls and jet travel. The record belongs to Rose but just wondering.
