It was only fitting that Pete Rose broke the record in front of his hometown. Since the day Marge Schott bought the Cincinnati Reds, she made it her mission to bring Pere Rose back home because, in her own words. "Pere belongs to Cincinnati, and he should have never left. There is no way I would allow him to break the record in another uniform but a Cincinnati Reds uniform. The record will be broken in his hometown."

@@rougedemoncollects5239 I'm the last guy on earth who would lobby to have Rose enshrined into the HOF. Roids does distort the record books, gambling has the potential to annihilate the game completely, and the owners know this. Roids put money in the owners' pockets, gambling can destroy the value of MLB teams if fans ever suspected that the outcome of a game was determined before the first pitch was thrown/fixed games. Most fans don't understand the danger of gambling because they weren't around in 1919, or they can't read.

@@ThekiBoran very well said. I couldn't agree more. Anyone except roid users should be in cooperstown IF they are an all time leader in something. Rose should be in cooperstown because he's the all time hits leader But Barry bonds no. Because he tainted the home run record not Hank Aaron nor Babe ruth. Bonds alone tainted the record for home runs. It's been over 30 years since Pete Rose was banned for life for gambling on baseball games. Reinstate him. By the way, correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't Willie mays and mickey mantle getty banned for life but they were reinstated? If so that's totally unfair.

From seeing him play, this interview and celebration he comes off to me as one of realist, most humble person who has such respect and love for baseball, the fans, his parents and owners. He's bigger than the HOF and all the commissioners that he played for are probably just jealous that they never learned the game like he did and were as respected. LOVE YOU PETE. Love, PETE .

I agree 1000 percent that Pete Rose definitely should be in the hall of fame. It is such bullbleep that he is banned for life. There are players in the hall of fame that did much much much much worse than Pete Rose. Look at Ty Cobb. Ty Cobb killed a man and slept with a gun. He was the most arrogant and nastiest person who ever lived. Biggest a-----e who ever lived. Pete Rose is the greatest player I ever saw. Nobody ever ever ever dared questioned what he did on the field. Nobody deserves to be in the hall of fame more than Pete Rose. What he did off the field was never any big secret. What he did off the field should have no affect whatsoever on the field. Nobody ran faster after a walk or a rare home run than Pete Rose. He ran every single ball out even if he new he was out. He still would run run run. Pete Rose's record for hits will never ever ever ever be broken. There will never ever be a greater player than Pete Rose. The commissioner would not know great talent if it came and but him in the a--. Best free agent signing the Phillies ever made. Get Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame before he dies.

It's irritating how instead of talking about anything relevant....how Rose played and hit, Ty Cobb, etc....all people ever say is the knee-jerk HOF thing. Irritating. Nobody cares if Rose's plaque is in the HOF, because nobody actually goes there. He gets 100X the attention by NOT being in the HOF.
