Used to be able to buy a house there for $50K in the good old days.

Some Old timers here in loreto were telling me that they bought their beachfront lots for $5,000 and built their houses for $10,000 about 35 years ago here. Now one of those beachfront lots is selling for $1.3 million. It would cost $200,000 to $300,000 to build a house on it minimum. Several houses next to the lot are selling for $6 million to $12 million. And that's us dollars.

Awesome video! This Pete’s Place looks like a really neat spot to explore. I absolutely loved that restaurant layout! I would enjoy to incorporate a smaller version of that layout, if we built down in Mexico. But, we are pretty much Centro type folks, so would not have the space; or I should say “the budget” for that kind of space in a Centro. Safe travels!

We go back and forth on Centro with a very small lot or 8-10 blocks from Centro where we bought 1 acre for less than what a 600m2 (6,000sqft) lot would cost in Centro. It just forces us to get our exercise and walk 15 min each way to Centro and back.

Pete's Camp used to be ran by my uncle Pete Angulo Cota, his sister was named Lugarda Angulo Cota, she was very imprtoant in San Felipe, great memories. By the way I live currently in Beaverton, Oregon, where from Oregon are you guys from?

That is so cool! I grew up in Oregon City and Esperanza grew up in Aurora. We had both lived all around the Portland area before moving to San Diego in 2017.

We live full time in Loreto Mexico. We don't have any connections in the US anymore. We were in Vista when we lived there.

Hello I heard you say something in one of your videos about termites. I want to retire in San Felipe bc and wanted to have a mobile home. Do you think I will have a problem with termites if I go that route?

Termites are a big issue in all of Baja. If you are very diligent about regularly inspecting and treating for termites then you should be ok. Much of the SW US has similar problems with termites but people tend to stay on top of it more so it's not as big of an issue.

I went to San Felipe for vacation 20 years in a row in my little Ford Ranger and never had a flat so you're wrong.

How far away is Downtown San Felipe from where you are now??

We are in Loreto, Mexico right now, so we are a long ways away. If you were asking about Pete's Camp to downtown San Felipe it is about a 15 minute drive.

Is it true that you can get cash to spend over there? The business so no accept crédito card?

In most bigger towns all of the sit-down type restaurants and bigger stores like supermarkets will accept credit cards. Some smaller places only accept cash but they usually have signs. Close to the border in rosarito or Ensenada or San Felipe they gladly take US dollars but the farther south you get they sometimes don't want US dollars. The most cost-effective way to get pesos is to go to an ATM and withdraw pesos from your bank account. Always watch what the fee will be because some are only a $1.50 and some are 10 or $15 a transaction.

Good to know about the water. I'm interested about the housing market there. We looked at several houses currently for sale in Pete's Camp on the internet and that's where I got the price range. We are currently looking at several lots in downtown. We like living here and walking to everything. Plus my wife and I have built several houses in the US doing the majority of the work ourselves so we are considering doing it again down here and hiring a local contractor to help us with the subs and process.

@@dooglassandesperanza curious to know where you got your information on housing prices? We are NOT part of El Dorado. Also, Pete's restaurant is lovely and we love our staff, but fyi, it is considered to be pricey in this area. The amount of tire shops is not because of our "bad roads". We are all a bit protective of our little fishing village by the sea 😉 Glad you enjoyed our little piece of paradise though

@@rdsivertson Apologies if I offended you. There were three houses active for sale when I made the video in the approximate price range that I stated. Currently there is one 5 bed 7 bath house with a pool and ocean view for sale at $450k. That seems to fit in the price range that I listed. If you have other examples I would love to see them. Overall the restaurant is expensive for Mexico but we usually find that there are options that are a good value in most restaurants. As for the roads, I wasn't implying that the roads in Pete's Camp are particularly bad, but I know from 30 years of regularly driving on dirt roads that they cause many more flats than paved roads. I once got 2 flats in one week while vacationing where I was driving on dirt roads and that was with newer tires. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate the feedback.
