DVD - smarturl.it/PETETOWNSENDFTFDVD
Digital - smarturl.it/PETETOWNSENDFTFDIG
This show was filmed for the famous German TV series Rockpalast at MIDEM in Cannes on 29th January 1986. Pete Townshend’s Deep End were touring in support of Townshend’s solo concept album “White City: A Novel”. Several of the musicians that appeared on the album were featured in the line-up of the Deep End including Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour on lead guitar. The set list has tracks from the “White City” album, other Pete Townshend solo tracks, Who classics, David Gilmour’s song “Blue Light” and a couple of surprises. Pete Townshend and the band deliver an outstanding performance that showcases him as a solo artist as distinct from his work with The Who.

OMG. I can watch this a thousand times. The rythm, the dance, the voices, the trumpets, the man with the harmonica, the lady singers, Townsend himself.... This is so damn addictive to watch!

My daughter had the lead part in her dance recital to this song in the late 80's when she was maybe 11 or so! Sooo very cool. It's on a VHS of course. Been thinking of having one made of me on video at age 73 dancing to this and having it melded with hers from the 80's! Now how cool would that be?? Going to ask at the Create-A-Video place down the road from here how much that might cost!

Like someone else said, proper drum technique allows for longevity and better percussion health. That's why you can see many elderly jazz and Classical players still working. Additionally Simon Phillips always look like he's having fun playing!

Pete introduces them here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYqzYaSwrJKnmKsm13s Most people aren't familiar with them but their credits are really impressive -- they've played with Beyonce, the Stones, Clapton, Dr. John, Paloma Faith and many more. They're still very active and have their own studio in London.

It seems odd to have so few veiws after 7yrs. I KNOW I have played it at LEAST 200x - probably twice that in the last 7Yrs. I Imagine that is the same for a fair # of veiws. 500 people playing it 200x is 100K veiws. And THOSE numbers seem very possible to me. I wonder how many are only 1 veiw by 1 person? And THIS particular video is too good to watch only once, because it is too good for words to BEGIN to describe how amazingly fantastic it is MUSICALLY, but to WATCH it as well!? That really takes it to another level. SO MUCH ENERGY!! EVERYONE onstage is giving it 110% - & there is A TON of people on stage. It's not just "live", it was ALIVE!! ALL those people electrify the WHOLE STAGE!! Plus he has David Gilmore playing guitar for him. I mean, if you want someone to come in & play so that you can concentrate on singing & dancing, not a bad choice -lol!! Lastly, I will play this MANY MORE times, so - trying MY best - LOL!! I am a Pete Townsend fan from WAY BACK, but once again, THIS performance IS one of his best EVER!! He IS the Face - You HAVE to Know Him!!
