@petebeard7 ай бұрын
@@blank557 Another viewer made a similar observation, and I honestly don't know the answer. Its possible of course, and I'm pretty sure that Nerman's image predates the kelloggs box. But it could just be coincidental, and I would be surprised if whoever designed it (presumably American) would have even heard of Nerman. The jury is well and truly out on this one.

These illustrations just confirm that less is more. It takes such talent and precision, and to know when enough is enough to produce such perfection. Just enough to let the viewers' imagination to fill in the rest. Love this collection.

A hundred years ago, really wasn't that long ago. I love the big red and black tiger with the long black and red tail. The way he used shapes together in such a way that they not only formed the front legs and tail, it gave them 3 dimensional qualities also. He mastered the use of negative space. Today's computers can easily recreate this, but all the work that went into creating the original is becoming a lost art.

America's most famous "illustrator" was Norman Rockwell...however, his originals were painted on canvas, they were only regarded as illustrations, when they were used as cover art, usually on the covers of the Saturday Evening Post magazine.
