Teaching yourself isn't for everyone. Luckily I grew up in an environment where I could do just that on account of my very talented and able drummer Dad, as well as all kinds of resources that helped me to go as far as I could almost entirely at my own pace. Here's insight into how I just stumbled upon an idea in order to alleviate boredom in practice sessions, and it has been a cornerstone of my approach to playing ever since.
