She plays Juliette exactly as I imagined her. The sequence where she is trying to cross into IT is brilliant. It might be slow-paced but it's important to show just how determined and resourceful she is. Honestly this is turning out to be the best book adaptation I've seen in a very long time.

I don't know why, my first thought was those bodies outside looked charred from being burned. Rebecca can carry an entire episode. I enjoyed this but agree it would have been nice to drop the second episode. I was more interested in seeing Silo 18's reaction. Great video and I'm looking forward to your recaps this season.

I enjoyed it so far, but something that didn't make sense was her giving up so easily on that mysterious door that she had never seen before. So she tried so hard to get there and she didn't explore enough to see that room? Went back because she heard some noises and then she's just leaving like nothing was important about that? My opinion.

Unfortunately people need to be okay with the slow burn, as someone who has read all the books, there is a reason for it, and it’s not necessarily TV dragging things out. The point is as far as we know there is only one character who knows everything, and even he might not know everything, everybody else is literally in an information silo as well as a literal silo. So the exploration is them trying to put together what the hell is going on. If that was done and found out too easily then it loses something because clearly it wasn’t that elaborate. When in actuality, it’s very elaborate, And it deserves time to be taken to unravel it all. I promise you it will be worth it in the end.

Having read the books - i'm interested to see how true they stay to them. If this is the pacing they are going to follow, I'll be out after episode 2 though. There was no new character development in this episode. We all know Juliette is a skilled engineer who can make do and solve problems........and has "been on the outside" from relationships perspective......so not sure what value this episode brought, especially considering how much ground they need to cover if season 2 is going to be book 2. have a feeling I'll be dropping off after episode 2 if they don't deviate from the books in anyway as the slow pacing combined with knowing the outcomes makes this a boring watch.

She knew before she went out that she had a limited amount of air so you can imagine the gamble of going into the silo with the dead bodies seemed better than the gamble of trying to make it to another one in time. She had no guarantee that the next one wouldn't have a bunch of dead bodies outside it either. You have to keep in mind that they know nothing about the world outside and up until a few minutes ago she had no idea there was anything outside their silo.

One thing I am not sure on is whether the rebels deliberately flooded the generator or was the silo failing and the generator flooding was a consequence of that? I think the first episode would have been more impactful if we didn’t know from the trailer that she finds Steve Zahn’s character at the end. Knowing she’s not actually alone in there is what made it boring to me. Otherwise, I think the suspense of wondering what the sound is and if she’ll find someone there would have kept my attention more. Not a good season premiere by any means but Silo is still one of the best shows on TV right now and I’m excited for next week!

I think that vault he’s in, is the room behind the server room, the most important room in the Silo. (Where Bernard watches Juliette’s helmet cam the trailer. I realized after watching Bernard walk into that room with judge Meadows in the “Rebellion” trailer on Tv+. In both instances, the room is entered by entering a key locked door followed by the server room, then a vault door to the final room. Also, you can see “We’ll get in sooner or later” on the back wall. I wonder what the room is for (besides looking at Juliette’s helmet cam).

@GlasPthalocyanine 28 күн бұрын
Yes but the nanobots must always be there. They have to be activated or deactivated. When Juliette left the silo, there was a very specific order to her actions. She did not clean. She was given the wool, not just any random bit of rag, to clean the sensor. I'd guess the wool is either a catalyst for the reaction with the nanobots, or maybe it's made of a specific material that activates a switch behind the sensor. Juliette skipped that. Then she had to touch the rock to switch off the visual feed to her helmet?

I found this episode to be a triumph of a resourceful - an extremely clever - engineer’s approach to a set of obstacles. The added nuance that the engineer was a woman made the episode even more compelling. My only quibble - which I totally understand was a necessity - was the oh-too-convenient lighting in the adjacent silo. With the generator useless from the deliberate flooding, you’d think the silo would be completely dark after the long period of time, amirite?

What will be the conclusion of all this, what will be the reveal.

From a mechanical perspective, Juliette is terrible at coming up with DIY solutions. Her entire life has been about finding solutions, so you would expect that something as simple as finding a way across a gap would be trivial for her. Yet, it seems she deliberately makes foolish decisions to shock the audience. Let’s name a few examples: 1. She comes up with the idea to climb down using a rope from the upper bridge. Instead of untying the knots, she cuts the rope. Then she proceeds to tie the rope to the middle of the bridge rather than at the end, which would have saved her from needing to swing. Even if she had to swing, for the rope to snap from a little friction with the bridge, it would have had to be incredibly weak. 2. She decides to build a bridge, tying a rope to one end to swing the bridge to the other side. So far, so good. However, rather than using the rope to support the middle of the bridge (which would make the bridge 4x stronger), she assumes it is strong enough on its own. She starts walking across, but after a while, the bridge begins to collapse. Normally, you would go back and reinforce the bridge. She has all the materials she could need and as much time as she wants. Instead, she decides to risk her life to get to the other side, probably saving only 30 minutes.

Yeah, also using polyethylene material to bind metal pieces having so many ropes. lol. that looked so silly.

MY hand slip. watching the episode right now, its the guy who was dangling from the rope. the leader guy they captured him they put a noose around his neck threating him to tell secrets and either he didnt tell him wanted they wanted to hear. my thinking the rope/noose was their way of excution

Thanks for pointing out the rope might have been cut, I didn’t notice that at all. Maybe the guy behind the door can get out, or there are others around watching 🤷🏻

When I went back to watch a second time I noticed there's a shot where she holds up the rope and looks at it. Worth checking out if you missed it.

... Just a quick note on the closing shot of last season showing all the Silo's... a couple of them appear to have "access points" dug through the crater mounds.... Never read the books, so - sorry if that turns out to be a thing! But they look like supply routes.

That was a clove hitch which can be used for belaying and it was secured with a half hitch to avoid undoing by movement. It tightens under load, quite safe. The rope was cut as shown later.

I wonder what happened to the governor of that silo or the folks in the control room who watched every one. They should know what it's really like outside

I know the books and I don't want to spoil anything, so I know the answer, but I want to know if anyone else noticed that the IT still had and still has power even though the generator is off ;) Can't wait to see if the explanation for the "toxic air" is the same as in the books. This season will be epic! I really liked the first episode, especially as it was quite slow.

I can't help but to think this ends with the silos communicating and making more suites to walk between silos. If I was Juliette I would've had to walk to a couple more Silos and waved at the people.

I think if they’d realized the first two episodes at the same time this would be a great first episode. But I’m super pissed I have to wait another week for the show to finally get started
