Rebecca's casting is the best that happened to her og character. She gives it something she lacked in the original story

She plays Juliette exactly as I imagined her. The sequence where she is trying to cross into IT is brilliant. It might be slow-paced but it's important to show just how determined and resourceful she is. Honestly this is turning out to be the best book adaptation I've seen in a very long time.

Unfortunately people need to be okay with the slow burn, as someone who has read all the books, there is a reason for it, and it’s not necessarily TV dragging things out. The point is as far as we know there is only one character who knows everything, and even he might not know everything, everybody else is literally in an information silo as well as a literal silo. So the exploration is them trying to put together what the hell is going on. If that was done and found out too easily then it loses something because clearly it wasn’t that elaborate. When in actuality, it’s very elaborate, And it deserves time to be taken to unravel it all. I promise you it will be worth it in the end.
@russg4313Ай бұрын
Having read the books - i'm interested to see how true they stay to them. If this is the pacing they are going to follow, I'll be out after episode 2 though. There was no new character development in this episode. We all know Juliette is a skilled engineer who can make do and solve problems........and has "been on the outside" from relationships perspective......so not sure what value this episode brought, especially considering how much ground they need to cover if season 2 is going to be book 2. have a feeling I'll be dropping off after episode 2 if they don't deviate from the books in anyway as the slow pacing combined with knowing the outcomes makes this a boring watch.

I realized after watching Bernard walk into that room with judge Meadows in the “Rebellion” trailer on Tv+. In both instances, the room is entered by entering a key locked door followed by the server room, then a vault door to the final room. The air isn't toxic. There's a cloud of nanobots programmed to terminate human beings surrounding the area where all the silos are.
@GlasPthalocyanine28 күн бұрын
Yes but the nanobots must always be there. They have to be activated or deactivated. When Juliette left the silo, there was a very specific order to her actions. She did not clean. She was given the wool, not just any random bit of rag, to clean the sensor. I'd guess the wool is either a catalyst for the reaction with the nanobots, or maybe it's made of a specific material that activates a switch behind the sensor. Juliette skipped that. Then she had to touch the rock to switch off the visual feed to her helmet?

The added nuance that the engineer was a woman made the episode even more compelling. With the generator useless from the deliberate flooding, you’d think the silo would be completely dark after the long period of time, amirite?

I hope that everyone watching this show know that all this are metaphors. Metaphors of humanity and the silo is a simple self explanatory metaphor of humanity and limitations. The IT and constructed realities to control population are also very simple metaphors. Now hat makes the show interesting is to see where are the writers taking these simple metaphors to? What will be the conclusion of all this, what will be the reveal.
@wouter12wppАй бұрын
From a mechanical perspective, Juliette is terrible at coming up with DIY solutions. Her entire life has been about finding solutions, so you would expect that something as simple as finding a way across a gap would be trivial for her. Yet, it seems she deliberately makes foolish decisions to shock the audience. Let’s name a few examples: 1. She comes up with the idea to climb down using a rope from the upper bridge. Instead of untying the knots, she cuts the rope. Then she proceeds to tie the rope to the middle of the bridge rather than at the end, which would have saved her from needing to swing. Even if she had to swing, for the rope to snap from a little friction with the bridge, it would have had to be incredibly weak. 2. She decides to build a bridge, tying a rope to one end to swing the bridge to the other side. So far, so good. However, rather than using the rope to support the middle of the bridge (which would make the bridge 4x stronger), she assumes it is strong enough on its own. She starts walking across, but after a while, the bridge begins to collapse. Normally, you would go back and reinforce the bridge. She has all the materials she could need and as much time as she wants. Instead, she decides to risk her life to get to the other side, probably saving only 30 minutes.
