My school just did this show. Closing night was last night and I'm dealing with post show depression. Being in this show is probably one of the best experiences I've ever had.

I did this show as Molly Aster at my school and it was one of the most challenging roles I've ever played. Her and Peter basically carry the entire show on their shoulders with barely any breaks offstage. But it was my favorite show I've done.
@BoeyejanglesChicken5 жыл бұрын
Molly and Peter don't carry the show unless that's how it's directed. The show should be very ensemble heavy and maybe have peter,molly,stache,smee,ted and prentiss all carry the show.
@storiartest Жыл бұрын
i know it's been a long time but as someone who plays mrs bumbrake in my current school's play, I can say that in my play, while molly and peter do carry a lot of the show, the ensemble is a lot of stuff and sometimes, i get to play a mollusk or carry a ship model out! i guess it all depends on the director (this is my first show by the way)

Kayla Brown my school is letting girls audition for male parts as well as female parts, but the nanny is a girl and so is Molly of course.

I'm late but in a professional production there should only be 1 female actress (molly) the other female characters are played by men to signify Molly's isolation

Luna Lovegood I would say to add a lot of emotion to this character. She's going through a lot in this show and really needs those emotions to be played big. I don't know if that helps at all, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@taylorbunot71738 жыл бұрын
because it is vaudevillian style. the actor that plays boy/peter also doubles as a pirate. Also, they would then need a teenage girl to play molly as well because they kiss twice in the show. In regards to the book contrasting to the play they are very different in how they read.

Just saw this in Seattle at Arts West. Excellent production, but the play is difficult to follow and definitely not child friendly. I sure wish that Broadway producers and directors would stop making effeminate men the source of many jokes. As a man that is effeminate, I have done many things to erase that, with mixed success. Most effeminate men never chose to be that way (OK some do!) It saddens me so much that femme men seem to be such popular sources of money making jokes (Think Kinky Boots. That play made me sick and I had to leave.) Today, I sat near a very young man who seemed effeminate. How did he feel about himself seeing this play? No one seems to care. And, curious that butch women are rarely a source of jokes. Think about it.
