Amazing player. Grew up watching his Newcastle team, almost winning the title in 95, with the likes of Shearer, Ferdinand, Asprilla, Ginola, Albert, and the magical Beardsley. What a team. Had the pleasure of playing with Peter at school and youth level football , was always was going to be a Pro footballer at a early stage a few clubs knocked him back when he was younger

One of my all gime greats for Liverpool ... along with Barnes. A legend of a player. Gutted when he left Lfc! Couldnt handle seeing him in another shirt. Must say I have Newcastle as my 2nd team because of the connection with Lfc players. What a guy!

Best recommended him to Liverpool too, Best was good friends with Kenny Dalglish & phoned him to congratulate him on getting the Liverpool job & urged him to sign Beardsley, saying that Ron Atkinson was an idiot getting rid of him from Man Utd

Did Peter fake his age all his career? It’s always been down as born in 1961 hence he was 31/32 when he went to Newcastle in 93

He must have done, I suppose it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things coz he was SO good but if he was 35 when he re-signed for Newcastle, he must have been 30 when he signed for Liverpool & probably wouldn't have got the opportunity & a 2million pound move if his real age was known

Haha! When he played for Liverpool, My cousin when she was 12 had a crush on him & would cry when he scored! My uncle said he looked like Quasi Modo & she went absolutely berserk haha!
