I have always loved Bogdanovich not only as a director but also as an historian of film. He is really unique. I love his quote: "Performances are better in black and white."

Black & White is a more emotional medium. We (humans) react differently to color than we do to black & white. Film noir wouldn't have had nearly the success that it had if it were shot in color. Imagine 'The Maltese Falcon' in color. Forget it
