I've never heard of Doctor Who before until 2 years ago, from my seventh grade English teacher who was a huge fan of the show (mainly Matt Smith) and talked me into watching one episode. It was the episode of when The Doctor (12) and Clara were trapped under sea with some scientists on a different planet defending themselves from killer ghosts. After that episode I was hooked, I started that season from the begging and teared up when The Doctor was trapped in the dial after witnessing Clara's sacrifice. When that season ended I wanted more so I started from the "begging", at 9 and Rose. When 9 regenerated into 10, I was expecting 10 to botch up the vibe that 9 gave as The Doctor but instead he played him wonderfully and I loved him as The Doctor. When Rose left, just like The Doctor my heart was torn in two until Donna appeared. At first I hated Donna, wanting Rose back but she grew on me. I liked the wit and insults she was calling The Doctor. I got even more excited when she obtained the brain of The Doctor only for my heart to be shattered again from her being unable to handle the knowledge he has. I cried even more after the events of the season finale when he was saying goodbye to his companions. The way he looked at Donna and then visiting Rose in the past gave me so much chills and sorrow for him. Just like in 10, I didn't want him to go. Then, Matt Smith appears. With one glance I could tell that this wasn't just a normal person playing the doctor, mainly by his face. No, 11 gave off the feeling that The Doctor is just a child at heart(s) who just wants to have fun. Amy and Rory were by far, my favorite companions. I loved the dynamics between the three of them, then River Song happened. At first I thought she was just a Lunatic calling herself The Doctors wife and being a time traveler. But as the story progressed, I began to become fond with her as well. Then the angels happened, I was in shock when Rory was taken then I was going into a complete breakdown after Amy was telling River to watch over him as she said those famous words "Raggedy man, goodnight". Those words stuck with me for a long time. When 11 regenerated to 12, I forgot all about him until he regenerated. And now, The Doctor is regenerating again. I don't want Capaldi to go, he's by far my favorite Doctor but I guess everything changed and so must I. Thank you Doctor Who, for giving us this Fantastic show.

I was lucky enough to have met Peter Capaldi this summer in San Francisco. Not only did I take an epic photo with him, I actually got a chance to talk to him, to tell him how wonderful his Doctor was, and will be forever. I mentioned to him that I thought he was a classic Doctor for a modern audience, and I was thrilled to have been fortunate to have been able to enjoy him in my time. He was absolutely one of the nicest, most sincere people I ever met. and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the man. I will absolutely miss him, and the 12th Doctor. He was one of the best actors on television, and a fantastic human being. Thank you so much Peter, for all the adventures.

@McThar98: True, but sometimes the audios allow for some wonderful character exploration. The 12 War Doctor audios we got from Big Finish really fleshed out his character as well as his experiences during the Last Great Time War. Plus, the Eighth Doctor wouldn't have been as woven into the fabric of the show as effectively if Big Finish hadn't tapped Paul McGann to come back for audio dramas to flesh out his character, which is still ongoing!

To me, the Capaldi era will go down as one of the strongest eras in the show's history. A great Doctor and consistently strong stories. I'll always remember Peter Capaldi as one of the greats, right up there with the likes of Tom Baker and David Tennant. Jodie, you have some big shoes to fill, best of luck.

Into the dalek, Listen, Time Heist, Mummy on the orient express, the magician apprentice, the witch familiar, the girl who died, the woman who lived, zygon invasion, zygon inversion, heaven sent, the pilot, oxygen, the monk trilogy, empress of mars, world enough and time and Doctor Fall were all incredible episodes in my opinion. All the other episodes were good, with some exception ( sleep no more)

Yes, he did. And in almost all of them there were good chaacter developments and proper dialogue. Moffat seems to just enjoy witty quips that real people would never even say. With exceptions of course. Matt Smith's run I loved.

Each to their own I guess. I've always felt largely indifferent about Smith's run. A lot of the stories just didn't capture my imagination the way Capaldi's have. I'll give you the witty quips criticism though. Some of the dialogue does stray a little too close to the hammy and cliched.

For me, the 12th Doctor is hands down the BEST Doctor yet and quite possibly the best we'll EVER get. Peter Capaldi nailed every scene he was given, and watching the character grow and develop from Season 8-10 was something quite unlike we've seen before. The final 2 episodes of Season 10 are my personal favourite storyline from Doctor Who and made me realise just how incredible 12 is. I hope Peter/12 get the amazing send off they deserve

To be fair all doctors are great in their own way (maybe not TV Colin Baker, but Big Finish Colin Baker is great). Capaldi started a bit shakey (Robot of Sherwood ‘cough’ In the Forest of the Night ‘cough’) but by the end came into his own as the Doctor with many memorable episodes and some all time greats.

I think Capaldi's series had the most emotional and riveting performances. Even if some people may not like the story writing or arcs, Capaldi still made so much emotion come through them and that is some amazing acting right there. I'll miss you, and so will many others!

I love Steven Moffat but Peter Capaldi is nowhere near the best Doctor. In Season 8, he was one of the worst to the point where I saw him as being the Valeyard more than the Doctor. I don't blame Moffat for that, aside from a few mean spirited lines which Matt Smith could have delivered without coming across as an asshole. I blame Capaldi for not being as good an actor as he was hyped up to be. When John Hurt appeared in Day of the Doctor, he proved that he 100% deserved the legendary reputation he had developed outside of Doctor Who. However, the praise for Peter Capaldi has been exaggerated to an insane degree, to the point where people unironically call him the best actor to play the Doctor even though JOHN FUCKING HURT, one of the greatest actors Britain has produced in the last century, played him too. To Capaldi's credit, he was much better in Season 9 and his anti-war speech in The Zygon Inversion was brilliant and finally sold him as a legitimate incarnation. However, Christopher Ecclestone, David Tennant, Matt Smith, John Hurt and even Paul McGann, one of my least favourite incarnations, all sold the Doctor in their very first full episode (or movie in Hurt and McGann's cases). I'm willing to bet that Patrick Troughton did too since he was the first test of regeneration but it's impossible to verify that with absolute certainty because his debut episode has been lost.

Loved 12 from the moment his determined glare appeared in the 50th anniversary special, and my love for him grew every season. No one has portrayed the Doctor with such fierce strength and utter raw emotion as Peter Capaldi has, and I am so happy and grateful as fan that he got to be our Doctor, my second-favorite right behind Matt Smith's, with my favorite 3-series run. I'm going to miss him. I knew he was going to be great. I argued with so many people who hated how different he was, and I'm so glad I did. Even in stories that I dislike I find him to be amazing.

I miss him so much. He's my favourite doctor and maybe always will be. I would love him to comeback but sadly I think he won't return. So like my second favourite Christopher Eccleston. I need more time with them on the screen. But specially with Peter Capaldi. He's such an amazing actor, doctor and person. He changed me and I'll be thankful for that forever. Hope I'll meet him one day.

I will miss you, I really love the christmas special you had with River. It was extremely fun to watch yet quite bittersweet. I love it so much. I am sad to think of now how awesome it would be if River could get a season with you instead of just 1 episode.
