I don't drink or smoke and rarely use hotels. I had to work until I was 66 after working for most of my adult life. Am I now to feel guilty because I'm receiving a state pension?

Charles Amos is annoying. Most pensioners have paid a full stamp with an expectation they will be able to live independently. They were in the system and planned accordingly so it is a breach of “contract” to take it away.

because of my state pension and a very small private pension i saved whilst working ..i am over the limit for pension credit by the stupid amount of £20..iknow there has to be a cut off line ..but its not just the winter energy bills its been the ever increasing cost of all bills ..council tax/ rent/water/food/..thats happened these past few years especially ..also the taxing us after increase of state pensions ..so i am struggling ...and someone who has lived in my home for 40 years paying rent ........and move into a one bedroom flat...i may aswell give up and die..with no quality of life in my winter season of life....asi dont want to be a burden on my children who are working hard to look after their families and pay their bills

Wow this Charles bloke is something else, cruel is a kind word for him The elderly have done their work. They have worked, paid tax and brought up families. To expect to put an elderly woman (Avril) in a house of multiple occupation is like out your dog out to die His father wouldn’t allow that to happen to his grandmother because ‘he is wealthy’ How the other halve live eh! Apart from looking like the 118 118 men off the tele, he has absolutely no empathy for those lowly working class people, be them pensioners or workers on a sweat line He doesn’t look like he’s done a genuine days work in his life! He needs to spend a month in a proper job, in 30 degree heat and sweating like a burglar on the run. Hopefully it will harden them soft hands As for the pensioners, I agree private pensions are the way forward but for now, there are people like me who have paid, (in good faith), into a pension scheme run by the government. We are expecting are pension because through our hard earned wages, we paid into it. It is NOT a benefit as some seems to think. It is something we have all worked towards, paid towards and deserve. I don’t trust any of these governments who are constantly changing the rules by changing the pension age. Just when you think you are close to a rest from working for the past 50 years, they add on another year or so I’d be interested to hear how he felt about the illegal immigration situation and how the working public are expected to fund the bill for them in a posh hotel whilst sticking grandma in a damp room in a house of multiple occupation. Get him on and ask him😂 As for us lowly commoners, who work hard and bring home the wages, we contributed to our pension in good faith. It might not be to a private pension but that doesn’t matter. We gave money to the government that we could have given to a private scheme. A private scheme making all these rule changes would be hung out to dry Ps … love your show Peter

The withdrawal of a rightful pension at 60 for 4 million women in the UK is one of the biggest scandals of modern times. Equality should have meant retirement rights for men at 60. We have the highest employment rate in G7 and are on target for a world-leading employment rate of 80% (currently 75%) by 2035 - yet the Government says they cannot afford it? What are they spending the money on?

@@Jezebellum-l2ushow the inequality between men and women. You reaped what you sowed in the name of equality for women. I believe women live a year or two longer than men but used to be able to claim your state pension 5 years before men. Go figure how unfair that was. They should’ve lowered the pension age for both sexes to 63.
