It's Dud's facial expressions, the tics and twitches, that get me every time.

Hip, hip and a Cheerio to ya mates. Well well... Here we find, and much to my delight, the same two blokes I remember from that trendy, and just a tad crampy 1967 spoof 'Bedazzled'. Blimey! I never would'a thought these amps had a history preceding that one; and a very early "Indie" one it was. Well ya learn something new every day here on KZbin. I was just 11 years old in '67, and I'm 67 now. That makes for a partially universal-arc learning curve; one that landed me right smack dab in the middle of Berkshire, or maybe Barclay Square somewhere, at that wonderful early-global, mid-century era Wimpy Burger/Tastee-Freeze eat- in luncheonette where Dudley was working as a short order cook in the movie. Hmm... lemme see,1967. err.... ah 67 years old now. Maybe I'm onto something. I'll consider playing that number in the lottery. Serendipity can be a friend sometimes. 😅

What i find weird is i find Cook and Moore to about as high level quality humour thats out there, but when i play it to friends and family they just sit there and have no reaction whatsoever. Personally ive been dying since i discovered them in 1994..

Dudley's eyes twitching trying not to break makes the comedy. Lorne Michaels owes these guys a lot. This is 1960s SNL
@samdavepollardАй бұрын
scripted, presumably, but every so often Pete lobs one at Dud which has the poor guy smirking, biting his hand to stop himself corpsing; wonderful
@ebbhead2012 күн бұрын
What they would do is have a script with a bit... say a doctors appointment, or at the Museum or like here The Zoo... And they'd rehearse it to death.. but at the same time Cook would see if he could put stuff in there to mess with Dud.. So things like.. why paintings are so very expensive sometimes... So Pete is..Thats bla bla bla money that painting...And Dud comes back with... That's too much my aunt Dolly would have done that for nothing.. And Pete cpmes back with... She does everything for nothing your aunt Dolly... And then between the teeth.. Dirty old cow... Now i dont if She does everything for nothing was ad libbed... But for sure..Dirty old cow was... 😊 And after Dud starts choking on his sandwich We get... Are you enjoying that sandwich ? A line also made up for sure..And Dud csnt speak and goes..hrmmmfff.. yeah.. And Pete ending it with you be careful with that or you'll choke on it or something... All that stuff seemed like Pete just going beyond what Dud was expecting to hear...and once Pete knows hes got him he just goes in for the kill... 😅 To be there at the time must have been bliss...

Benny Hill may have had an input on this earlier fare, or he may have at least learned and borrowed a thing or two from them, or, could it be the other way around?
