Clock stopped at 3.50 so how is it 3.52?

The clock shown on the television screen was not was not the official time. Rather, it was just a hand time taken by the TV crew. So, why was there such a huge disparity between the unofficial hand time of 3:50.22 and the official time of 3:52.02 (FAT)? My guess is that the person operating the TV stopwatch wasn't paying attention at the start, and they missed the gun entirely!
