I'm a huge Gabriel fan and I think this has to be one of the top 10 songs he's ever done. The change at 3:22 gives me chills, and when it snaps back into the theme at 4:57 it's equally glorious. What songwriting.

A beautifully written and composed song by Peter Gabriel with stunning vocals from his daughter Melanie. It's hard to believe that she appeared in Sledgehammer back in 1986 with her sister Anne-Marie...what a talented family and I can't wait to see what Peter Gabriel has got in store for the I/O Tour in 2023, it's amazing that he's releasing a single a month in conjunction with every new moon during 2023!

Peters daughter might not be able to compete with Sinead O'Connor or Kate Bush as duet partners but i really think she did a good job. It was kinda sweet seeing father and daughter singing together. I was at the concert, and when suddenly they were walking upside down on the ceiling, it really blew my mind. Still gives me goosebumps watching this. Peter Gabriel just is the greatest artist on this planet.

I was at this concert in Vancouver. It was their final show in the 2002 tour. As he was introducing all the band members, he said something along the lines of "And on vocals is a lovely young lady who asked that I not use her name. So I'll just call her... my daughter".😊 At the 'legacy' stage of great career, a father touring with his daughter is a beautiful thing.

She's lovely, but the album version with Elizabeth Fraser is hard to tie. Any singer vs Elizabeth Fraser is difficult to beat... she's otherworldly. There's a KZbin video live with Fraser. PG and Paul Buchanan (as on the album). Just gorgeous. Buchanan sounds SO much like Robbie Robertson.

"Downside-Up" (feat. Melanie Gabriel) I looked up at the tallest building Felt it falling down I could feel my balance shifting Everything was moving around These streets so fixed and solid A shimmering haze And everything that I relied on disappeared Downside up, upside down Take my weight from the ground Falling deep in the sky Slipping into the unknown All the strangers look like family All the family looks so strange The only constant I am sure of Is this accelerating rate of change Downside up, upside down Take my weight off the ground Falling deep in the sky Slipping into the unknown I stand here Watch you spinning Until I am drawn in A centripetal force You pull me in Pull me in Pull me in Pull me in Pull me in Pull me in

I originally was just looking for the old Sledgehamer video, but in the midst of my search I discovered a number of these Growing Up tour videos. I have tried to decide for myself who is the greatest musician alive today. I keep returning to Peter Gabriel. If you listen to music he made 20-30 years ago, it sounds like it was made yesterday. There is a timeless quality to his work. "Mercy Street" is a song that I can hear thousands of times.

As a younger person, there are many bands I would like to see live but never will (Pink Floyd perhaps the biggest). Now that Richard passed away, Peter Gabriel is by far on the top of my list. There is something about the way he commands the stage that Phil was never able to do when he took over Genesis. Gabriel is a very solid writer, a true genius, and has me hooked after seeing the DVD of this show. Hopefully he will pull one more tour out in the US.
