Back in the day, I had a couple of beers with buddies after work, drove home, and started watching MTV. A few minitues later, I saw this video for the first time. When it concluded, my initial thought was, "Perhaps I drank more beer than I thought." Nice reaction/review. Thank you.

The thing that grabs me most after all these years of seeing this video, is just how committed Gabriel is to the video making process itself. Can you imagine, even more a moment, any of today's artists sitting there for hours and hours on end whilst animators incrementally move objects around them? Nick Park (Wallace & Gromit) did the chicken dancing part by the way

The technique used for this kind of animation is stop-motion, it's also used in claymation, that's why clay figurines are also used in this clip, à la Wallace and Gromit.

You're damn right. She is really pretty and seeing her get into the song had me grinning and chuckling. I always like seeing people of this generation watching old songs from previous decades different from what they listened to through their life, especially young African Americans like her, they often have the most interesting and entertaining reactions.

The video was considered very groundbreaking in its day (mid-1980s) but probably looks very basic now. It's not got much to do with the song (which somebody already mentioned is 100% about - let's say the physical act between a man and a woman) apart from perhaps the one very brief scene at the begining of the video. You might have already discovered, as this reaction is several months old, that Peter Gabriel's music before this album (called "So") is very different. It explored some darker, heavier themes and was much less commercial - very innovative but more of a challenging listen (I do like it, though). Just saying, in case you decide to listen to his older music, it is very different to what you've already reacted to. All the music on the So album - and the follow up album "Up", though, I find very beautiful and uplifting.

Gracie, here's an idea. Maybe you could do one Lennon Sisters song each week on a certain day. You do such good reactions to them and there are tons of music videos on youtube by them. There's no way you will run out of them to do all because there are so many, lol!
