Best song from the best Miami Vice episode ever. (Evan) Say what you want about the cheezy acting, that show had the best sound design of the 80's.

This song gives me chills up my spine. One of my favourite songs of all time, not just by the master Peter Gabriel. Something about this song brings out something ancient and primal and tribal. I love how I can see (in my mind) a dark night, just a fire in the middle of nowhere, just the dry heat of the desert and dust, with so much magic around. Truly a captivating and consuming song. I love it.

If anything, the experiences of Jung that Peter relates in this song shows just how fragile the 'veneer of civility' modern society holds and how something primal and uncontrollable inside is not as deeply buried as we'd like to think. Awesome song!

This song reminds me of a dream I had a few years ago which has stayed with me to this day. In the dream, I was in a laundrette of all places talking to a man who turned into a shaman. He place a large acupuncture-like pin in the centre of my head before his eyes rolled to the back of his head. He then told me to take his hand, and when I did, I entered a trance and found myself in some sort of tribal initiation ceremony. I heard lots of chanting and drumming and felt hands touching me all over then suddenly woke up.

simply the no 1 of my personal lifelong favourites... There is nothing like this song, even if there are many others as there could be e.g. "In The Air Tonight" or "A gadda da vida" (exact writing?) by Iron Butterfly. A good deal of the fascination of this peace of art is of course Rick Marottas drumming, but as u can see, there are so many percussions on stage, this is simply... UNBEATEN ;-)
