Every night your line is busy All that buzzin' makes me dizzy Couldn't count on all my fingers All the dates you had with swingers Bye, bye, bye, baby I'm gonna kiss you goodbye and go right through that doorway So long, I'm leaving This is the last time we'll meet on the street going your way Don't look surprised, you know you've buttered your bread So now it's fair, you should stare at the back of my head If you write a letter to me My former friend, don't you end with an R.S.V.P. I'm going bye, bye, I'm moving Tomorrow I may be splittin' to Britain or Norway I'm saying bye, bye, bye baby Now that I heard all that jazzing whereas I have had it, I've had it

@@NoahSpurrier yes that’s the point of the post. Rock n roll artists had these unique inventions which they grew up with called the radio (it was the first tv theme to make the Billboard 100), the record player and the tv. 😉 So they grew up hearing it and a lot of bass players especially learned this riff as one of their first when picking up the guitar. Hence, the birth of it. :)) Also by 1958 you definitely had Rock n Roll. 3 of the top 5 Billboard Top 100 artists of that year were early Rock and Roll. And that’s just record sales not radio play. The Teddy Bears - “To Know Him Is To Love Him”, Phil Spector’s first band and song Tommy Edwards - R&B Ricky Nelson - Traditional early rock n roll

Actually Peter Gunn was before Mr. Lucky, and Peter Gunn's theme was created as a result of wanting to infuse jazz into TV scoring. Also Mancini didn't do The Magnificent Seven theme.

Daniel Davis Yeah I was gonna say I'm like 99% sure that Elmer Bernstein wrote the score for the Magnificent Seven.

Yeah. Elmer Bernstein wrote the Magnificent Seven Theme: Uh ... tried to paste a link to the Wikipedia page on the Magnificent Seven but while I can paste it into word pad it will not paste here ... So - go to Wikipedia and look it up ... .

I’ve never watched show, in fact I was born until over 40 years after this show first aired. But in grade 8 middle school band, before the pandemic, we were going to perform a Henry Mancini collection piece, and this theme was so fun to play on the trumpet, unfortunately we never got to perform this as damn Covid happened.

Fabulous music by Henry Mancini. This great-grandmother and my peer group loved this show when we were in High School. All the boys were learning this theme on their guitars!

Weirdly, when I was very young, I heard this from playing Spyhunter. Then the blues brothers, then much older I saw Blues brothers clip and just had to find out where this originated. Not disappointed - this is an AMAZING track.

There's a great video here on KZbin, of a portion of the Quatar Philharmonic (yes, I said Quatar) playing this live. Very cool presentation, as the number begins with just the drummer starting the song, then a tubist kicking in-two musicians, who of course play the whole song, while being joined by numerous other musicians playing french horns, trombones and trumpets. After watching the tuba player pump it out for four minutes, I now have an appreciation of the stamina needed to play this instrument.
