I've had the pleasure of meeting Ack van Rooyen on a workshop twice and I can tell you: he's as lovely a person as he is a musician. He's constantly making fun of himself and it is an unbelievable pleasure to be around him. He once came on stage and with his broken old-man voice told the audience: "My voice is so quiet, that's why I learned to play the trumpet" :D When Jiggs Whighman once introduced him with the highest praise; then van Rooyen came on stage and said: "It's all true you know?" :D
