My favorite realist. Also enjoy his humor, so frank, "Optimists must be the most unhappy people on earth".

Cili PB I would question your use of the word realist. He has denied man made climate change and said that he thinks the alternative theory to the Theory of Evolution should be taught in schools.

Well done Peter, I get so frustrated that no one seems to get Jesus. You have a gift from God for presenting both sides with love. Keep up this good work please.

AreaJerm I think the use of psychedelic drugs would be the main point of contention. Also, Peter Hitchens has referred to Peterson as a cult leader.

LOL. It wouldn't even be close. Juden peterstein is a pseudo intellectual that teaches dumb American Youth. Peter Hitchens schools scholars and politicians everytime he is given the opportunity, I.E. on a weekly basis. He is highly respected amongst other intelligent people, whereas Peterson doesn't even speak to any intelligent people. Juden peterstein has in his house painted photographs of Vladimir Lenin and glorifies the communist revolution. He is horrible misinformed on internal and foreign policy of Nazi Germany, yet still attempts to give lectures about them to instill his own agenda into young people, Peter when talking about hot issues or history is an absolute fountain of accurate knowledge and makes sure to be absolutely impartial or if his knowledge is lacking in an area, he will attempt to understand it before tackling it. Jordan outright refuses to talk about controversial issues, like Israel, the Jewish community, the immigration debate etc. and values his own skin more in public debate than he does truth or justice.

Politics is the Bourse where the ascendant interests negotiate, at the expense of the marginalised and minority interests, though minority interests may be promoted at expediency. The ascendant classes have shown a wonderful resilience in the face of broad social aspirations. Yet these classes now face a clusterfuck of emergent challenges which only some of them comprehend comprehensively. Most of them are only beginning to form an appreciation of some of the challenges in any depth. The crisis may yet be some decades away.

Any party? I think he'd sweep the board with the BNP. That's sort of a joke. All politicians are quite marginalised as individuals I think, or at least a lot of them are. What is the difference between someone who is seen a s a very valid pundit, like Peter Hitchens, and someone who can carry a party? He's a 'good' English public school boy. One thing, always important in psychology, he doesn't elaborate a great deal about his childhood, or what it actually means. He does a bit here - didn't ask his parents enough questions. Peter is someone who I am always intrigued to hear how he says something, often because I think he's right, but there always seems to be something that isn't.
@downlink58777 жыл бұрын
The BNP are now little more than a meme, or at best, a boogeyman for politicians to trot out. They do not exist in any form worthy of interest or analysis. You also spend a great deal of time discussing Hitchens' social class, which is the polar opposite of the demographic that made up the BNP's membership and electorate.

This is massively untrue & a very poor argument from Peter Hitchens. The fact you may not believe in a God & are an atheist does not mean that you worship yourself or indeed any thing. I means you are a rational & realistic human being. It means you can live without believing in anyone or anything other than yourself. Life is a construct which resides in each and everyone's head. In your universe you are the most important person in it by definition. This was taught to me by my RE teacher Mr Brown who at the time was dying of cancer. He was a great philosopher & one of only a few teachers from whom I learnt anything.
@vheilshorn5 жыл бұрын
No, it doesn't mean you're rational. And yes, it does mean you worship yourself. Why? Because atheism means you have only yourself to answer to. You are your own ultimate authority. How is there anything more arrogant or self-worshipping than that?
@dereklaing29295 жыл бұрын
Yeah coastman's position seems very under-developed, instead of taking his position to its logical conclusion, he stops halfway because to take it further would contradict his prefered worldview, just as he contradicted himself in his first 3 sentences.

Peter Hitchens' opinions on religion appear to be irrational, where as in most other topics of discussion he promotes rationality. It seems hypocritical to hold oneself to one standard of what constitutes reasonable opinion in one field of discourse and a completely different standard in another. He promotes rational, sensible politics, economics etc. But has a deeply irrational faith in Christianity. Would it not be self-honest to question one's own irrationalities and faults and why one might hold one set of circumstancial beliefs over others?
@vheilshorn5 жыл бұрын
Just because you deem something irrational doesn't make it irrational. Just because something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. Time to climb down off that high-horse.
@marshallhess82535 жыл бұрын
I think his faith is supra-rational rather than sub-rational. I understand your confusion, but it really doesn't make sense unless you are a Christian. I suggest you try it and see how it works for you.
