@@michaelmassaro4375 Lol! But I hope they both get in form for their WCC Defenses, they were both beasts in their primes so it would be sad to see them fall easily to young opposition (not that I have anything against Gukesh and Tan, but neither are at the Chinese Champions' levels)

@@talphazero1036 What kind of excuse is this?? If Gukesh and Tan beat their opponents then THEY ARE at the champion's level. The champion has to prove that they are champion material, they can't just claim it and sit on their hands. (Also, Tan is not young, she is 32)

No disrespect - but to compare Ju with Ding is hilarious.many people think Ding will lose WCC /I do, too, just not as easily as expected/ , but he has real opposition /and would have even if not gukesh - hikaru,fabi or Ian - each great player of the day/ - against Ju he is 99.999 winning every game. Circa 150+ elo means something more than nationality

7. c4 is an interesting idea. Take space and create a sort of Maroczy bind. It also makes whites dark squared bishop not look as silly optically.

Last time I was this early, Svidler called Agadmator a douche. For those who understood of this reference, congratulations, you're an excellent subscriber who stood by Antonio on that day. Only two other players (Garry Kasparov 2851 and Fabiano Caruana 2844) have ever been rated higher than Magnus is now, and Magnus is 52 points below his all-time peak. He has continuously been the highest-rated player at any time since 2013.

Make sense to me though. Wat is the rook doing on the 4th rank beside defending the knight (feel like you're gonna have to move it back to a1 at some point). Ra3 seems much more reasonable because you hope to swing it across the 3rd rank

Kind of a problem for White the flexible 1..d6. I have the feeling White didn't want to transpose (including 2.c4) and let Black engineer a KIA with reversed colors. Rather subtle, I must remind that Peter Svidler was eight times champion or Russia and when you know it has never been easy to win that championshig...you learn how he has wide knowldege.

Qd4 I know she wanted to move Svidlers knight from its perch but at some point it was obvious Rd8 was coming Peter had Tempe throughout the game her Queen was forced to move to an inactive square losing the dark squared Bishop hurt her chances as well in this game not a Good look for the Female Champ I hope she comes back with Stronger play Thanks for the Game

one of the main messages from this video is that a retired male chess player that has moved on to other games can defeat the best female player on the planet - -and make it look easy. Ju Wenjun is the creme de la creme of female chess players--the best. Are we simply going to pretend that's not the case?

Svidler was Praggnanandha's second during the candidates and Svidler actually used some of the lines and novelties that was prepared for the candidates in this tournament, even one that Pragg suggested to Svidler. So even if he isn't playing regularly, his prep is hardly lagging behind

I symphatize with Ju. She was pushed out of preparation by 1. ...d6 and felt a bit downhearted. I played 2. g3 in such position, too. Us and Russians = 220 millions, and understand how unnoticeably white can end in zugzwang just. 1. ...d6 is cynical move, played by people who rely on their technique and play Philidir or Old Indian Defense, just in order to bore to death their opponents.

A borderline GM as the 'world champ' in a sport that gives zero advantages based on gender. Selective equality at its finest. Hou Yifan is realistically the only worthy top female player after Polgar and, coincidentally, the only woman other than Polgar who has openly protested against chess tournaments rigging the pairings for women to face predominantly women. If you hold them to 200 lower ELO standards, they'll never reach their potential.
