Are you kidding me? Is that a real hard immigrant story? ??? My grandparents came from OLD RUSSIA at the time of the Revolution... my grandfather, as an 18 year old supporter of the Tzar (as was his family way) was CHASED across the Asian continent by the Reds, and finally, made his way along the White Russian Road to Vladivostock to Shanghai, Hong Kong, and AMERICA>.. which he found it exciting (from what I understand) but very hard.. too hard... he travelled to LA.. then Chicago... then while his brother chose to adventure to Canada he went on to New York, because it was 'famous'..and he found it too hard in his life. My grandmotheron the other hand, had a similar but different terrible story of loss of the 'old life'.. Her father was taken away by the Tzar and sent to Siberia for sedition, they had to RUN from the country and made their way to Germany and to a ship and to America.. Ellis Island etc... losing EVERYTHING along the way. They arrived in America speaking Nothing.. knowing NOTHING.. knowing NO ONE... no support nets, no social security, no 'support groups'.. no nothing.. they hit the ground running. They all had to work from the day they arrived. My grandmother at 16, almost as soon as she landed, met my grandfather and they made a baby and got married.. that baby was my mother. She grew up without a father, as he wandered off finding working for a living, supporting a family TOO HARD... but making babiies was easy.. he would wander back to do those.. my mother grew up in the lower east Side of Manhattan and she knew 'poverty' but it didn't bother her.. she wanted to 'make it' and she and her brothers and sisters did, and as a result.. i never had any experience of 'wont' in my life. that's America. People who have come from somewhere that was hell... to what is honestly heaven.. but.. at the same time.. You can't save everybody....
