Well, in this movie actually he _did_ grow up. At least a little bit. He fell in love with Wendy. And in the alternative end we see that he didn't forget her. Somehow he even remembered John and Michael although at the beginning if the movie he almost immediately forgot them when he didn't see them anymore. Fun Fact: The actor of Peter really fell in love with the actress of Wendy.^^

In this movie, we see Peter faced with the reality of what he can never have, because of the apparently irreversible decision he made to remain a young boy forever, and we also see Captain Hook realize, if only for a moment, just how lonely he is. What if he remembered it and took her to see the fairies that night because he hoped it would make her happy??? and think about it: when they start to dance, they slowly begin to rise toward the sky. Remember when Peter said that happy thoughts lift you into the air? what if they are, in that moment, so happy just being in each others arms, that they rise towards the stars.
