In Spectacular Spider-Man, when he goes out in the symbiote suit, he fights the Sinister Six and when he gets home, it's revealed that HE WAS ASLEEP THE WHOLE TIME HE WAS FIGHTING! Obviously, it was the symbiote that made him move while he was sleeping, but perhaps his spider-sense was coming into play during that time too.

His getting his butt still handed to him has a couple of easy explanations 1) His having to hold back and pull his punches, as Otto notes when he takes over Parker's body, he throws a punch that takes out a guys jaw and realizes Spider-man has been holding WAY back all this time, which means he isn't taking lethal shots he could to end fights 2) Parker's issues with focusing do dull his Spider-sense somewhat, basically all the life problems and drama he is constantly being put through make it hard for him to focus 100% meaning his Spider-sense isn't acting at the capacity it's actually capable of (a what-if does explore him being trained by a master spy and learning to focus his spider-sense to the point it becomes precognitive and able to predict someone even "thinking" of harming him).

Its a nice touch how Strange doesn't just brute force Peter here (which I imagine he could have), but instead knows exactly how to counter his specific move set and abilities in a way that didn't hurt him (much), which is especially impressive since he really only saw Peter fight a couple of times, and he didn't exactly have time to study his move set during that time. The one thing he didn't account for was Peter's intelligence, which given the circumstances of their meetings, I guess he didn't have many chances to observe

Bruh magic has nothing to do with science just because you can comprehend things in a certain way doesn’t make it so, at best the pinnacle of science wields laws and the pinnacle of magic denies science or laws which nobody really understands at all. ( I’m talking about the force that makes reality law) I always found it dumb why others think magic is impossible like bruh we expect wizards from magic when even after all these years scientist’s haven’t made holograms. Fantasy is proof of magical creation simply adapt it to the real world.

Honestly one of the best scenes in the entire film. It’s extremely well directed, and besides a few wonky green screen shots, the majority of the sequence looks amazing, with some particularly beautiful shots in it as well. The overall construction of the scene was also very clever and well executed imo. Obviously in a serious fight-to-the-death situation , strange wins 99 times out of 100, but it was very clever of the filmmakers to put this fight in a particular context where we could feasibly believe Peter, not “winning” per se, but escaping/evading strange. Peter didnt overpower strange, but instead used his environment and knowledge abt that environment (& math) against strange, which was a great touch and soooo “Peter Parker” imo. Also if u even have a little ounce of comprehension skills, you’d understand that strange wasn’t trying to seriously hurt or kill Peter, which is another reason Peter gets away. Overall I just think this particular sequences was an excellent and well crafted scene. The choreography and realization of both strange’s and peter’s powers & abilities were also very well executed

Strange wasn't even trying to *hit* peter at all. ALL he wanted to do in this "fight" was to take the cube and keep Peter in the mirror dimension until he was done. It was more of a struggle over the cube than a real fight. That's why he wins, because neither wanted to hurt the other here.
@SumitKumarrr1
@SumitKumarrr1 2 жыл бұрын
Even under the pretext that Strange didn't want to hurt Peter, this fight is mind numingly stupid. The simple fact that Strange is established to have telekinesis(in multiverse of madness he lifts and disassembles an entire bus with telekinesis) renders any notion of Spiderman, who doesn't have telekinesis, contending with him absolutely laughable. The only thing that prevents Strange from suspending Peter in mid air via magic is plot convenience. Not to mention the whole sequence in the beginning where Strange was trying to grab the cube was absolutely stupid. Peter has Spider sense, but all it does is alert him to danger. It doesn't make him naturally react to it, else he would never get hit. Him moving with his soul outside his body was stupid. Not to mention, the spider sense shouldn't even activate as Strange wasn't putting him in any danger and was instead just opposing Spiderman's motivations.
@Timeward76
@Timeward76 2 жыл бұрын
@@SumitKumarrr1 trying to explain spider sense is a fool's errand. It never made proper sense what it can or can't do. It reacts to what peter perceives as a threat, which in this situation he would.

@@Timeward76 you can argue as such but there's still a million things wrong with this fight. For instance, why didn't Strange just trap Spiderman in one of the chambers he trapped the Spiderman villains in? Okay so, I'll confess that up until now I hadn't really been won over by Tom Holland as Spider-Man or the idea of the MCU introducing another new Spider-Man that was so different from the more classic portrayals of him that we've had. But I did go into watching No Way Home to see the return of Sam Raimi's characters while also being open to seeing if anything in this movie would have me warm up more to Holland's Spider-Man, and I have to say, I'd consider this to be the moment where he really gained my appreciation for the first time. Here he is sympathizing with these villains who aren't even his own and the conditions that they're going through because he doesn't want to send them back to their own realities if their fate is to be killed off, and he's willing to stand up to the very master of the mystic arts himself to defend them because he believes there can be another way for them. Bearing in mind this is before he even finds out how much of a monster Norman Osborn can be under the influence of the Green Goblin, and even then I would say my opinion on Holland's Spider-Man only got to be better for the rest of the film. If anything this movie has been the kind of thing we needed to help make fans feel less divided on all these different attempts of bringing Spider-Man to film, when now they can be bridged together through a movie that celebrates how different each of them are. That being said I'm actually interested in re-visiting the Amazing Spider-Man films now after watching this movie.

@@davidpierce7581 Well if Sam Raimi's Spider-Man has still been my favorite up to this point it's because of his films feeling the closest to the original classic Spider-Man of the comics. Yes MCU's Spider-Man has been very different since he was introduced, but make no mistake that I did come out of this movie with more appreciation for Tom Holland's Spider-Man. It really does help that a movie like this even exists now to bridge together all of the different movie Spider-Men that we've had as an unbiased love letter to the character in general and his history in cinema. I definitely enjoyed seeing Raimi's characters again, but also liked seeing how they play a meaningful role in the development of Holland's Spider-Man and weren't just in this movie for the sake of fan service.

There's so many cool beats in this: - When Peter is separated from the limits of his physical body, his spider powers are no longer encumbered and he's able to use it's full power (hence why he says he feels amazing and his spidey sense is so strong that it becomes visible) - Strange proceeds to underestimate him at every turn, calling him "kid", and gets outsmarted. One could argue that at full power, Strange could handily beat Spider-Man, but don't forget that Peter also has to pull his punches, even against major threats.

There's a few comics that show Peter without restraint, and he's absolutely one of the most terrifyingly powerful Marvel characters. One of my favorite examples, even though it wasn't some cosmically powerful foe, was a sequence where Kingpin had found out Peter's identity and went and hurt Aunt May. They get in some barefist brawl in prison where Kingpin is like "maybe that'll teach you what real power is" or something, like even if he's in prison he can still hurt Peter, because he's certain prison is the worst Peter as a person is capable of. Peter beats the snot out of him, almost to death, like "this is a warning about what will happen if you take away the one person who makes me want to pull my punches."

This feels like it jumped from a comic into the movies and that how the mcu needs to feel honestly. These characters are so accurate to thier comic characters but also have the added details and motivations from the mcu and it works perfectly. I’m so happy this fight delivered.

I like this fight, the fact that Strange found out his spidey sense is almost impossible to control so no magic tricks and just went straight sending Peter to dimensions that greatly messes his senses only for Peter to realize he can counter it with math calculations. It's like two Tonys learning but in a very fast pace and not requiring another movie to show they learnt from their mistakes. 🤣

Say what you want about No Way Home, but I appreciate how much effort went into making sure Dr. Strange stayed, well, Dr. strange. You would think the movie would sideline him since he's not the main character, but they find an organic way for him to set the plot into motion (setting up the spell), and they find a way to nudge him out of the picture (ie, the mirror dimension). Sure, he has full mastery over the mirror dimension, but without his sling ring, he can't escape it. It was smart for him to stop Peter by transporting him into the mirror dimension. I did think it was unwise and a bit out of character of Dr. Strange to cast the spell to help out Peter. Maybe have Dr. Strange say that this whole situation with Spider-man being Peter Parker has upset the balance of Earth. Remember, Earth is still trying to recover from people returning from the blip. The last thing everybody needs is to worry about Peter being Spider-Man. So I guess it would make logical sense if Dr. Strange did the spell only to return the world to a more steady path. I don't know, that's just my point of view on how things should have gone.

Dr. Strange doesn't need the slinging ring. Moreover, just about any situation in which a non-depowered version of Dr. Strange loses to Spider-Man is just... weird.
@Tom-oz7wk
@Tom-oz7wk 2 жыл бұрын
I completely forgot about the fallout of the blip. I just assume it was nothing more than sympathy for Parker because they both lost Tony stark. But considering how weird it is that strange would endanger reality by casting the spell, it makes sense that he would have an ulterior motive like clearing some of the chaos in society following the blip Edit: welp I added absolutely nothing new by replying but yeah it's good that strange had such a prominent role. He's one of my favourite characters since watching what if and this film gave him so many great moments as a funny character and as an incredible sorcerer Also, how did ned bring strange back? You need a sling ring to leave the mirror dimension but I don't think ned could open a portal to the mirror dimension
@elizabethmenjivar1695
@elizabethmenjivar1695 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tom-oz7wk Ned wasn't thinking clearly when using the Sling Ring. In order to use it to its full potential, you need to envision where you want to go to. Ned was being chased by the lizard, leaving him to open a portal to an ocean, leading it to sweep him away. Ned then tried to use the Sling Ring again, but ended up summoning Dr. Strange. I don't know the exact details as to accessing the mirror dimension, but if you need the sling ring to leave the mirror dimension, then I'm pretty sure you can go there as long as you envision it strong enough. If you look in the background of Dr. Strange, he seems to be walking out of a desert at nighttime? Yeah, the magic system can be a bit wacky in the MCU. This is just my attempt at answering your question. Side note: I don't like how he was handled in Multiverse of Madness. And that's sad since No Way Home seemed to be a more faithful adaption of Dr. Strange, even though he wasn't the main character. The writer for the second installment was more interested in furthering the overall plot of the multiverse (ie show Loki) and for some continuing Wanda's story (in Wandavision). No Way Home treated Dr. Strange with just enough care and thought that it didn't make me question why he was in the movie. Whereas in the second installment, I questioned his very existence in being in the movie since Wong was supposedly the sorcerer supreme (why he was sorcerer supreme, I honestly don't know). Sorry, I went on a tangent just then. Its just sad to see how the MCU is slowly falling apart because of bad storytelling. I rate No Way home a strong 8/10. Whereas I rate Multiverse of Madness a very weak 2/10.

@@elizabethmenjivar1695 thank you for trying to answer my ned question. Magic in the mcu is weird like how doc and the ancient one can experience time different in their astral forms yet doc can talk to Peter in real time when only the latter has had his astral form removed from his body I hate to admit it but I gotta agree about multiverse of madness. I did enjoy the film but I think that was just the magic of seeing it in cinema. Nwh definitely gives strange a ton of memorable moments whereas mom kinda has him viewing what's going on but not really helping out all that much. Making wong sorcerer supreme was silly (he's only sorcerer supreme because strange blipped for five years) because he was weak and willing to endanger the multiverse because wanda was torturing like 4 people. And of course america chavez had to be the one to stop Wanda which meant all strange had to do was tell her that whole cliche "the power was in you all along". I never realised just how badly strange was treated by the writers. At least he got that cool music battle with sinister strange
