Thanks Peter to share these precious moments. These 4 albums changed my nusical life. I had the chance to see the trio in Montreal and what a great moment for me! ( by the way, the sound is outstanding, serving the music!)

You Never Know is one of the greatest ECM piano trio albums! Thank you for showing us what was going on behind the scenes. "Clapperclowe" is especially fun.

Wonderfull to watch and hear. I was lucky enough to be in the studio with Jan-Erik, Manfred and Terje Rypdal doing the downmix of "Skywards", which I commissioned in 96-97. It was a revelation to to see JEK work. Magician. Thanks again. Great audio by the way.

Thank you very much Peter, your trio with late John and Palle is one of my two favourite trios in ECM catalogue (you can be compared only with Keith Jarrett's trio in my opinion). I could listen to all your records endlessly!

I had the pleasure of seeing this trio on tour in the UK during the 1990s. Later in the 2000s I saw John's trio with Palle and Martin France-all wonderful memories. Thank you Peter for this thoughtful upload-god bless you.

Incredible… Palle was one my favorite bassists ever. This music is so inspiring and humbling… and what a sound, what a chemistry, at the highest level of artistry… Bravo Maestro Peter! And Palle and John.

This is great stuff. I have so many ECM albums the Rainbow studio seems to be a magical place to me. I have a friend who did his music degree and his dissertation was on the effect the studio had on a musician. He got to interview Jan Eric for his work. This was a good few years ago, I wonder if my friend still has his work on this. Thanks Peter, great to see this!

Thank you for posting this! I loved this trio, such a unique gathering of musical personalities. I wrote to John Taylor to ask for a lead sheet to Ambleside (after hearing it on your CD). He sent me a copy- such a generous gesture. It is fascinating to watch you three work- these two fine men will be remembered. Thank you.

Thank you! There are quite a few of us who are huge fans of the gorgeous trio records you gentlemen made. John Taylor is just magnificent! It was such a loss for music when John and Palle passed... (I love the recordings with Alan Pasqua also!)

Thank you Peter for posting this! One of my (many) favorite periods of your career! Curious about the drums you were using on this session. Thanks for all the music!

That's a Sonor Phonic Genuine Rosewood drum set from around late 70's, which was the house set of the Rainbow Studio back then. I owned one myself in the 70's. Unfortunately sold it, was a big mistake, unbelievable expensive to get one nowadays. Jack DeJohnette played those too back in the day. They were Jack's best sounding drums ever IMO. They had unbelievable thick and heavy shells, two inside dampeners at the toms and one unique double dampener at the bass drum. And of course Peter's own snare drum and cymbals.

Thanks Peter for sharing this wonderful video of your 1992 ECM session. Great music & memories! Deeply saddened to hear of Palle Danilesson’s recent passing, RIP. He was an outstanding bassist and a dear friend back in the early 1980’s, when we did several European tours together; as a duo, and several other trio tours with various drummers. Palle composed & played this beautiful solo on our 1982 “Live” album kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYHOk3qHZad9bK8 He had the most amazing perfect pitch of any bassist I ever played with. I had only to suggest a slightly altered inner voice in a chord and Palle would pivot off it to modulate to a different key & before long we’d be playing in remote keys from where we started, uncanny! It used to bother him like crazy when pianos would be even slightly out of tune on our gigs, to the point where I would carry a tuning wrench on the road to adjust any offending bad notes. He will be sorely missed!
