That's a nice description of the chapel, Stephanie. I live in the general area of the chapel and visit frequently. It offers a wonderful motif for photography.

I am a descendant of Bruder Klaus and am curious as to why a German farmer would want to honor a Swiss saint? I love the architecture, and it is certainly a marvel. This is very interesting. Thank you for posting the video. Michelle Amschwand

This is the information I was able to find at wikipedia: Brother Klaus is the patron saint of the Catholic Rural People Movement (Katholische Landvolkbewegung) in which Hermann-Josef Scheidtweiler (client and owner of the chapel) held a responsible position for many years, including chairman of the diocese in the Archdiocese of nearby Cologne.

I read the farmer and his wife are elderly and they wanted to build a chapel because they were thankful for the blessings they received in life, like having a long life, because apparently the farmer was promised a short life in his youth (maybe bc of sickness or the war...idk). Also, after the chapel was built Zumthor refused to get paid. I read the saint was important for the spiritual life of his mother.
