One of the world's most gifted vocalists, Dimash Kudaibergen takes us through an epic journey with Ogni Pietra, showing the more operatic side of his training -- he ranges from baritone all the way up through high soprano within this one song, demonstrating his vocal range that is truly one-of-a-kind. What's your FAVORITE Dimash song? The song with the most comments will likely be the next one I do a video for ;) Also, you'll see that I was up against the same copyright grievances as last time, but I have no doubt all of you have already watched the original video tons of times 😁

He has a few more in an Operatic style. My next choice would be Ave Maria! ❤ For regular stuff, I prefer his ballads with Igor. Love Is Like A Dream would be my first choice. Sinful Passion, Your Love, The Love of Tired Swans, to name a few more. They are all beautiful. ❤❤❤

This is the first piece that Igor Krutoy wrote specifically for Dimash’s voice. And a beautiful partnership began. It still blows my mind that billionaire Igor came out of retirement to write songs that only one person on planet earth can sing. What a joy that must be. Great analysis! A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿

To analyze his operatic / classic vocal techniques in more detail, I recommend Ulisse and Ti Amo Così, both with opera singer Aida Garifullina, and the latter additionally with Lara Fabian. Ulisse is even more an opera song than Olimpico, which ts more like an epic war chant. Since you mentioned movies: Dimash has contributed to a movie soundtrack with Across Endless Dimensions. He is also acting in his music video Be With Me, a Michael Jackson-style pop song with operatic elements telling a short James Bond-style story.

Agree, Ulisse and Ti Amo Cosi are so far the closest Dimash gets to a sustained operatic voice for most of the performance.

I think the no vibrato is a choice, as he is able to do it - as seen in his performance for Ave Maria (2021) he kept it almost all vibrato I think 🤔🤔🤗 That is the song I would recommend next 🔥🔥

This song was written specifically for Dimash and the opening ceremony of the II European games in Minsk in 2019. It was the first work that Igor Krutoy and Liliya Vinogradova created for Dimash. Dimash is an opera singer too and so he sings this song in Italian (the language of music), with an opera voice (Bariton - Sopran). No one else then Dimash can sing this song alone. In December 2019, the song “Olimpico” performed by Dimash Kudaibergen became the Song of the Year 2019 in Russia. The authors of the composition shared the triumph with the artist. Igor Krutoy, music titan in Russia (billionaire) and a world-famous composer who came out of retirement to work together with Dimash from time to time. Lilia Vinogradova is known as a permanent co-author of the composer Igor Krutoy, with whom has created wonderful works in the crossover genre. Both created the cycle for Hvorostovsky, albums for Sumi Jo, Anna Netrebko, Yusif Aivazov, Lara Fabian and others. She says: 'And now we've added Dimash as a new element to our creative symbiosis.' * The trio also created the masterpiece 'Passione' - kzbin.info/www/bejne/boLXepKcpbl8rsU * Here is the best performance so far: Olimpico/ OgniPietra - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyzhGmqbZmknZY * Version at the first global online concert on January 16, 2021 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/in2yh5qFbciprpI * Backstage-videos : * Dimash in Minsk. As a soprano my takeaways are: Dimash is the most talented vocalist I have ever heard; his sweet spot is mezzo soprano, with an astonishing range; he has an unheard of ability to control his instrument, so his shifts in singing style are not by accident and lastly, I believe that his intent is to introduce opera 💖 to a wider audience…His voice makes me cry tears of joy. 😎

Well, Dimash has even been up to D8 in his own composition, "Unforgettable Day" and thus being compared with Dolphins, and expecting only dogs being able to hear that note. If you watch other professional Musicians reactions to that performance( in Gakkau) then you will see wide open mouths, and many other expressions of incredulity. Yes, that's our boy, Dimash! Oh, and watch out for the "Diva Dance" rendition as well! Anyway, I am one who enjoys the reactions of depth of the professionals, so please continue with a great job!

Hi Peter, I'd love to see & hear you react to Dimash singing together with a Kazakh opera singer Sundet Baigozhin. They sing toghether a song called Tu vas me détruire. And beautifully so of course. There's another duet he does together with Aida Garifullina - they sing ULISSE. Put these on your list, please ;) I'd love to hear all the technique details of course, find it really interesting... Other than that Sinful Passion - the fan cam version, Across Endless Dimensions or Know are some of my favourites. Greetings from Poland! PS. The name of the song is “Olimpico”. He sang this at the opening of the European Games a couple of years ago. Igor Krutoy wrote this especially for Dimash to sing in a stadium. He is singing it in a stadium again. He has done at least two movie soundtracks. One for a Jackie Chan movie. The other is for a sci-fi film that was supposed to be released last year. That song is online under “Creator: The Past”. 😊

My personal feeling on the style that this song is in is that he clearly uses his operatic technique but the song has a pop like undertone. I'm pretty sure this is a choice for this piece. Given that he did have extensive operatic training I'm sure he can sing bel canto quite well if he chooses to. Check out the fan cam version of this performance because there's a lot more close-ups on his face and you can see his mouth and tongue and vocal cord movement better. F#6 is one of his favorite notes and you'll hear that fairly often some of his performances

Dimash usual starter kit is Sinful Passion, Adagio and above all the one song that put him in the world map " SOS d'un terrien en détresse". A French song from a 70s musical named Starmania. He first sang it in a chinese competition called The Singer. Adagio (Lara Fabian) was also performed there along with many more. Its his most entertaining moments. On the other side, he is even better when he is singing old folk songs in his language like Samaltau and Daididau, the latter was also performed in the tv show and in the Arnau Concert. My fav of him are his Vocalise (also known as Know with lyrics) in the Arnau Tour, and Ave Maria. Both are songs without lyrics but they are stunning! ^^

SOS ist nicht opernhaft. Er macht viele hohe Töne, aber es ist so ein Mischmasch wie Strenger. Nach meiner Meinung natürlich.

He hit an F6 in "Stranger" and in his other new release "Ave Maria". If you haven't checked out "Ave Maria" I recommend it. No lyrics, all done on a single vowel. It's an original piece so not any of the versions you may be thinking of that you've heard before. It's an Operatic soprano performance. He also hits the F6 in staccato in his performance of the "Diva Dance" from the movie The Fifth Element at his Bastau concert (also highly recommended).

FINALLY!!!.... jeez. I'm really looking forward to you watching his duet with Aida Garifullina, it's the most opera'y thing I know. That said his subtle dynamics are so much more interesting in nonpera songs, my fav is Dimash - Love is Like a Dream

I enjoyed all your talking about what Dimash is doing. He would love to talk to you, too. I hope you continue your journey. Most of his songs have elements of opera but they’re mostly a mixture of different styles. Some songs to check out…..Across Endless Dimensions(Slavic Bazaar). This was part of a movie score. There’s a video too. Love of Tired Swans(Kremlin). Know(New Wave). Ave Maria(New Wave)A MUST! There are many more. It’s not all opera, if that’s what you want to hear. Just amazing singing by an amazing young man. By the way, you have a beautiful voice.

Thank you for your very insightful comments - really enjoyed that! Keeping your comments in mind, I just re-listened to Dimash's Ti Amo Cosi, Ulisse and Ave Maria again (... and again!). In my completely lay opinion, Ulisse (with Aida Garifullina) is probably the best example of Dimash keeping consistent vibrato. Ave Maria has lots of vibrato, but very few short notes (imho) so it is difficult to tell - the song is absolutely sublime, though! In Ti Amo Cosi, I suspect that both Aida and Dimash sang with much straighter tones, probably because Lara Fabian was ill that day. I might be completely wrong though, that is just what I hear. Greetings from South Africa!

If you would listen to him more and more - you would know - intentionally!!! He takes full responsibilities for structures and interpretations, colors and technique…. Btw in the net there is a fan cam version of this performance made by a good camera. Close Focus is totally on Dimash. For singing technique is a valuable one! Thank you so much for your reaction!

Hello , thanks for all the information. Dimash is perfect for me. Everything he does on stage, he does it because he wants it, the way he wants it. Dimash is a perfectionist. If you want to see his mouth, you must see "Ave Maria." Sublime

Great reaction Pete. You hit the nail on the head with your comments about introducing the classical style to a wider audience. This is Dimash's stated intention, and his total lack of respect for genre boundaries along with his skills and talent is such a refreshing approach to the whole contemporary music scene. Check out "Ulisse", a duet with soprano Aida Garafullina, where Dimash stays in the classical style for the whole song, so more of a true classical than crossover. In a typically Dimash finale, Aida does a magnificent soprano closing note, only to be gazumped into the stratosphere by Dimash.

When I saw his first video, I started searching the net for whatever I could find about him. I don't know what site or where I saw it, but some site said he spent a lot of time singing the higher ranges when he was younger, before his voice would normally have changed, because there weren't enough female singers in his school. And he kept singing that range as his voice was starting to change because he was familiar with it and liked it. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say Dimash is a natural counter-tenor with upper soprano range, but has worked hard to further develop his already impressive lower range. Listen to his earliest videos, like SOS on The Singer, and you'll hear how his lower range sounds like a bit of a stretch. But less than 3-5 years later, his lower range sounds like it's his normal range, and his mid range sounds like it's his normal range, and his upper range.... He now has no range and every range. And that.... is something I've not heard in over half a century of listening to everything from Hank Williams, Sr., to Enrico Caruso, to Willie Nelson. Truly a once in a century voice....

As a girl Alto Bass ( starting singing with less then an octave free), I can now sing like a mezzo-soprano without any effort but Dimash is out of this world. Sincerely “Bass singer” I have a huge respect for you and your voice and I think I could learn a lot from you. All my masters and teachers since today just want me to sing higher and higher but I love low notes and I play bass because of that. It’s my real voice… I just have to say it :)

Dear PETER, THANKS SO MUCH!!!!👍👍👍 I really Enjoy your explanations on this opera style singing. I'd LOVE to hear More as we go along!!! I'm intrigued by the questions of Stamina...what needs to be done to maintain it; and even caloric loss vs intake and diet. This is such strenuous work, like ANY athlete. I watched his concert in Khazakhstan, about 2 hrs. 20 min., and kept wondering HOW it could be possible???? By the way, You have such an Amazing voice, Singing AND speaking!!!👍👍👍❣❣❣ It's a true pleasure to listen to you!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰 Thanks again; good to see you back and doing more of DIMASH!! I'D Highly recommend 'AKINAIDE' from 2 months ago...Tokyo Jazz Festival. VERY DIFFERENT TYPE of song, simply beautiful. But not 'operatic'. Would just give you a sense of where he can go....and wonderful to listen to. Till next time....take care, and Good Luck!🙏👍👍👍❣❣❣🥰

What a great reaction! Thank you! This isn't a fully operatic song, not really a rock opera, but has modern elements. And we all want to have a chat with him, we can't say what he's doing with his voice! I was trying to figure out in the begining. I gave up. Of course he's human but I think everything is intentional. For me he's the most precise singer ever. Can't wait for your next reaction.
