Elizabeth is cool but she doesn’t do that much vocal analysis to be called “second to none”. She’s much more concerned with the overall atmosphere and the instrumentation and the rhythmic features of the piece. She does do a little vocal analysis but she’s not as in-depth as other coaches.

The whole thing is an homage to the Disney Haunted Mansion. Geoff is portraying the Caretaker. Eli is Alexander Nitrokoff, one of the portraits in the Stretching Room (you can see his portrait behind him of his character standing on a keg of dynamite). Cesar is fortune teller, Madame Leota, who appears in the Mansion as a ghostly head in a floating crystal ball. Lauren is Constance Hatchaway, the attic bride (she was filmed separately and did her own makeup). Her "hurry back" at the end is part of what a tiny ghostly bride (often called "Little Leota) says as you exit the ride. And Layne is the Hatbox Ghost, whose head disappears from his neck and reappears in the hatbox he's carrying. The bookshelves are a nod to the Mansion's library of ghost stories, all four stretching portraits can be seen to the right, and the portrait in the middle of the scene is Master Gracey, the aging portrait from the Mansion's foyer. Also, Elizabeth Zharoff (aka The Charismatic Voice) provided some extra spooky background voices.

The video was Haunted Mansion themed. Geoff was the caretaker- Silas Crump, Cesar was Madam Leota, Layne was the Hatbox Ghost, Eli was one of the stretching room portraits- Alexander Nitrokoff standing on dynamite, and Lauren was the Ghost Bride - Constance Hatchaway. The "hurry back" line is from the end of the Haunted Mansion ride.

That beat box sound i call a skeleton chatter/woodpecker can be done by tucking your bottom lip back and smacking it up and down with the tip of your tongue while closing your upper lip to tune it. One of my favorite little moves because you can quickly transfer to a snare or bass and tweak it for many different clicks.

You know, at first, I couldn't tell what it was about VoicePlay that grabbed and held my attention so thoroughly. After all, I had heard PTX and Home Free already and all seemed so crazy talented that I just couldn't figure out why I was so drawn to VP. It wasn't until watching these breakdowns from reactors like you and Elizabeth (charismatic voice) that I understood it was their arrangements that were keeping me so locked in. I've learned so much about arrangements and music in general from watching you, so thank you for these reactions/breakdowns! I've always known what I love and now thanks to you, I'm starting to understand why I love what I do! ❤️🥰

Near the end... When Eli is making that weird sound. Everybody calls it a "guitar sound", but I "hear" it as a slapping bass on pretty high strings. 🤔 One of the things I love about your "reactions/analysis" is your enthusiasm. It looks like you really ENJOY analysing these songs, and that is contagious: it makes me, and hopefully "us" the watchers, as enthusiastic as you. I LOVE that. 🙂 Thank you for the analysis and for sharing your enthusiasm. I ALWAYS enjoy your videos, and I ALWAYS learn lots of stuff from you. See you at the next one. 🙂

For their studio recordings, they will 99% of the time double-track people if they need someone to do two things at once. So yes, Geoff was double-tracked at the part you were questioning. Layne confirmed that’s how they do it in his interview with Elizabeth from Charismatic Voice.

The "Hurry Back" sounds just the way the ghost at the end of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland/Disney World sounds! Hi Peter! Firstly, love the lessons you provide, you’re much more educational than the average reactor. Re: the lower notes behind Geoff - While I don’t know for sure who did them here, I do think you may be underestimating Layne & Cesar. Cesar I’ve only heard drop low when goofing around in behind the scenes videos, but you may want to take a listen to Layne on two other tracks. Check out “Hoist the Colors” on the bridge where he’s harmonizing in Geoff’s neighborhood. That track also features a hella slide from Geoff. I don’t have enough of an ear to tell you exactly how far he goes, but he starts in like the middle third of his range and ends up stepping on Eli’s toes. I’d be surprised if it’s not four octaves. Also: Layne wraps up their version of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” with a solo that features a few bass drops.

the original "Hide and Seek" is a song produced by Ho-ong-i, and performed by VOCALOID SeeU. (in Korean) the English version was done in 2014. this is based on a japanese horor story of summoning a demon to posess a body to play hide and seek .. if they find you they get your body It is sung from the perspective of a girl possessed by a malevolent entity who is playing a deadly game of hide-and-seek with a young boy victim. ...... in the end the ghosts (and i think in other areas oh the voice-over effect you mentioned near the end was Elizabeth Zharoff from (The Charismatic Voice)

While there is some resemblance, I do not believe this is based on "One Man Hide and Seek at All." The big giveaway is the fact that the song very specifically says the ghost possessed girl comes in from OUTSIDE the house, while the ritual is supposed to summon one INTO the house. It just doesn't fit at all. There have been other monsters hide and seeking victim stories, so it's either inspired by that one, or more likely just coincidentally similar. I really don't like people stating this as fact though. It's not.

The beatboxing has indeed evolved so damn much, I remember the first time one of them actually (Sang) as he dropped a beat. crowd went so damn wild. You can go check that video from way back when and it feels ...well unpolished when compared to any serious beat boxer from today. On a side note, just how damn far down does your larynx have to be to go to that low (uncompressed) low bass? I feel not quite comfortable dropping it so much to reach the note, and when I do reach it, it is hella quiet.

If I recall in some videos, Geoff refers to himself as a "baritone singing in a bass range," which to me sounds like he's a bass-baritone and not a true bass. What do you think?
@PeterBarber
@PeterBarber 2 жыл бұрын
I firmly believe he’s a true bass - his voice really opens up and settles where a low bass voice generally does on the bottom. I think he’s a skilled singer and has learned how to sing easily and healthily into his upper range, giving him his great range
@victorchristy1706
@victorchristy1706 2 жыл бұрын
@@PeterBarber Definitely and I think he gives credit for all the subharmonics he was able to pull off from those videos as well as giving him a chance to go in his upper register. It's similar with the other basses like Tim Storms, Tim Foust, Richard Sterban, and Eric Holloway, who, in my honest opinion, is beyond talented in singing and voice acting. Outside of that in the classical music format, the bass voice is relatively rare to hear. Most recently, I was listening to several versions of Vi Ravviso from La Sonnambula by many basses and bass-baritones to name like Feodor Chaliapin, Tancredi Pasero, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Pol Plancon, Nicola Zaccaria, Ildebrando D'Arcangelo, Nicola Rossi-Lemeni, Sam Ramey, Marcel Journet, Cesare Siepi, Plinio Clabassi, and Boris Christoff. All of whom I regard as my idols when I listen to them and inspired me to sing. It's one of my favorite arias and it has a melancholic, but beautiful melody that goes well with the cabaletta. The two recent artists that sang Rodolfo's aria I will mention are Mirco Palazzi and Monet X Change. There is a difference between those two basses. They individually have a bass-baritone timbre. Palazzi sings it the way that Bellini would appreciate in the aria: a lot of legato and bel canto written for a lyric bass. As for Monet X Change, it's similar to Austin and Rob when they did a duet singing Nessun Dorma. Beautiful phrasing and just pleonastic.
