Peterbilt 320 New Way Rotopac Demo Truck

Well here is something that to my knowledge hasn't been shared on youtube yet. The first video of a Rotopac. I have to say, this truck was quite entertaining. Normally I don't like new trucks or I think they have a lot of problems, but this truck is the exception. I think this truck is exceptionally good. It will out perform most any other truck. The hopper cleared fast and easily with no problems. Tacoma has bought a few of these so I will be going down there to film them when they arrive to see how they handle on routes with nothing but 60 and 90 gallon carts. I have high hopes though. Overall I think this truck has been very well designed and lots of thought has gone into it. I have a ton of other videos of this truck to upload over time, or maybe I'll just hang onto them. I'm not sure yet. Enjoy the video!

I love the hopper shots. Lucky you got a driver who was willing to take them for you/let you put up your camera up. Also a very interesting gripper arrangement.

+trashmonster26 thank you. The grippers are pretty genius actually. The streamline effect of the curotto grippers but similar to a heil in the area that they can move to form more around the container for better gripping.

Really nice video, in fact Cornelius Disposal service down here in Northwestern Oregon just got one of these exact trucks, I had the chance to film it myself and found it really entertaining!

Definitely surprised at how good that auger works! Lots of good features on this truck, but I think I was most impressed by 8:19. That was cool haha 8:52 was a good example of how the packer deals with larger items. Excited to see more of these on the road tbh, they're pretty darn cool. Awesome video!

It's been fun to see smaller companies like New Way grow throughout the market recently. I would definitely agree that it's been well designed. The way that the arm extends was very well done, it even looks like you can get a heck of a reach. What were the drivers thoughts on the truck? Awesome job with this video, really enjoyed it. Thanks a ton for the hopper shots too, the video wouldn't be complete without them.

I'm pretty surprised how quickly this truck is becoming popular, and how well it performs on route. The arm seems pretty sturdy, and it has an impressive reach. The grippers handle the 32s very well. Only complaint with that is the arm is only attached by the one point, and it seems like it'd have a shorter life compared to other ASL arms. It's amazing how well the packer works at clearing the hopper in a timely manner. Doesn't seem like it'd handle bulk too well, unfortunately. Really nice find, it'd be cool to see some of the Tacoma ones!

Actually, I must say, there were a handful of bulky items on the route and it did exceptionally with them. I would agree with the hinge points tho, be interested to see how it performs over the years. Thanks for the comment

That auger has been very well designed, no chance of wrapping at the drive end. I would like to a Bucher (formerly MJE) GenV used in the USA.

Well this is a pretty awesome truck, cool to see something a little out of the ordinary! When I saw the name "Rotopac" I expected there would be an auger in it, think it's only really been found in ASLs over in Europe. Looks like it handles everything pretty effortlessly, just constantly spins and chews what falls in. I'm sure you could whack 300g routes with these two, maybe with a dual auger option! Pretty considerate of him stopping the auger for the hopper camera shot - made for a real tease the little views of the packing throughout, would make for an insane hopper video :P Two things which shot out at me about this truck was the basically flat tailgate, so close to zero overhang, plus the unique shape of the hopper "cover" with the curved design on the street side. I can see reach isn't a problem either, even the driver nodded in approval at 8:32 haha Thanks for showing this truck, looking forward to seeing more in future, especially hopper action :D This is the kind of machine which adds a bit of spice to the equipment out there, a nice change from the traditional packers no doubt!

+MitchellM15 Thank you! I would be very interested to see how a truck like this could handle 300 routes. I was going to try and get hopper footage but that fell through unfortunately. Maybe someday though. There will be more footage of these here once tacoma gets their new ones

Great vid. My city uses the rotopak for recycling but I don't think its a great idea due to contaminated recycle. One question I couldn't see but was there any hopper juice/trash juice?

The Additup27 yeah these weren't really designed for recycle. It'll just shred it all up making it impossible to sort. And yeah there was

The Additup27 labrie and new way are essentially the same haha not sure why new way doesn't do splits. I'm sure they would if someone asked but I just haven't seen anyone get them. The only way to make a rotopac split would be to add a second auger and what not. That'd add a ton of extra weight
