Nicely done Greg! Sliding the 5th wheel forward or back mostly impacts the weight on the steer axle. Move it back to take weight off the steer, move it forward to increase weight on the steer. However doesn't look like yours can slide very much. At 80,000lbs, with your limited 5th wheel slides, you might see 500-1000lbs difference (just guessing) on your steer tires.
@keithfarms2 жыл бұрын
With a long nose Pete typically your battle is to try and get as much weight forward to maximize what you can haul. Good video nice to see your honest that your learning and not some dork. Lol.

I haven't watched a lot of your channel, but I mat go back and watch some after this video. Good for you, putting a bunch of work behind something you want to do. You didn't make your truck the way I would have, and that's great - it's yours, and you are the one who will drive it, so don't worry about what anyone thinks about it. I hope you have many happy miles in it!

She's a beaut! I get ribbed for the 36" coffin on my 359 all the time but even at 6'2" 240, I sleep just fine on long trips. Thankfully I don't haul anything but my own equipment or that of those I know, so deadlines aren't a big deal and time and fuel are all I ask for, some help when needed is a good trade too. Good luck with her, I prefer the classic headlights, old dash of class, quilted or coffin pleated interior and minimal look of the 359 but as long as there's an 18 spd. behind a 3406B, some wheelbase and a fan or two inside, I'm happier than a puppy with two peters! Best of luck, dude!

I love how Greg just drives around in a commercial truck without US DOT numbers.. and probably no commercial insurance as well
@prestonwolff11413 жыл бұрын
You can run a truck like that without needing dot numbers if it's not a commercial vehicle. So personal or farm use don't need DOT numbers. I'm sure you've seen semis before on the road that have said "not for hire" on the side. They don't need dot numbers
@lrizo38413 жыл бұрын
@@prestonwolff1141 you are wrong if you seriously believe that. You need to seriously go educate yourself, that's like saying you don't need a CDL to drive a commercial vehicle. That rule or law I should say only applies to a vehicle that is 10,000 pounds or less. Which Greg's Peterbilt is obviously not less than 10,000 pounds
@prestonwolff11413 жыл бұрын
@@lrizo3841 well how do you know he doesn't have black DOT numbers then? He has a CDL. And anyways the rule for commercial vehicles is retarded when there are massive RV's with air brakes and all that are long as fuck that don't require a CDL to drive
@lrizo38413 жыл бұрын
@@prestonwolff1141 I don't make the rules or laws but I do know for some RV's you do need a class B to operate them.. it just depends on the class/type of RV you purchase.. but yes the rules and laws are retarded, I'll agree with you on that one
@jboutdoors70193 жыл бұрын
@@prestonwolff1141 black company name and USDOT numbers on black paint would be a violation, they have to be contrasting colors visible at 50 feet. If he could prove he’s not in commerce (not turning a profit) running these loads for that farm, he’d be out of the game, but when he’s moving his drag trucks and merch he is in business, in case you didn’t know his business name is wrench works… deff is in the game, USDOT numbers, log book, blah blah blah! My advice to Greg is to get ahold of his local commercial vehicle unit law enforcement and get some learning done before he gets nailed roadside..
