Only in PA ... truck only routing to get downhill into Ridgway, PA on Route 219. Used all 3 stages of Jake to remain within speed limit. 3 runaway ramps within this stretch.

I'm not a Truck Driver but a big fan of them and there's nothing like the sound of a Peterbilt truck you can hear a mile away.

Awesome video with that sweet Jake brake sound Nice of you that didn't add music to the background. Two runaway ramps,in Pennsylvania they take seriously the "safety first" slogan👍👍

Dude, unless you have been born, raised and learned how to drive here in the Keystone, then you have no idea how radical and dangerous our topography is and how we turned drunken cow and deer paths into roads and highways. The Rockies have their unique radical topography and dangers and the Appalachians are not short on their own unique dangers. Above the I-8-O, which perfectly bisects Pennsylvania in an east/west axis you can have 3 inches of snow ❄ on the west bound lanes in a blizzard, and 120 feet south from those lanes, the east bound lanes will be covered in a raging rain 🌧 storm. I have witnessed this many, many times over the decades. The northern tier of the Keystone may look docile on a map, but she will bite you in your ass if you aren't careful. What I just described to you can occur as early as mid-September and as late as mid-May. You can be in sunshine and 60 degrees to the south in Indiana, PA, on U.S. 219, and find 6 inches of snow on the ground in Dubois, Brockway, St. Mary's and of course in Ridgeway where this was videoed. All on the same day!!! Yeah, PennDot and the P.A. PUC take safety very seriously especially when it comes to coal bucket tri-axles and logging trucks. The southern end of U.S.219 down by the Mason-Dixon line isn't much better seeing as it is even higher altitude-wise and contains the highest point in Pennsylvania..... Mt. Davis. If you want to to get your sphincter tighten up, then cross the Mason-Dixon line and connect up with I-68 and head east to Frostburg, MD and continue to Cumberland, MD and you will have an experience that will tax the strength of the Jakebrake on any Cat, Cummins, Detroit, or PACCAR, or Navistar. Even going west on 68 to Morgantown can be fun, especially in bad weather, but Cumberland in snow and ice...... YIKES. No offense, but if you are a flat- lander, then I doubt that you possess the skillset to drive a large car here.... stay in the flatlands, you don't want to f*** with a dissected plateau that's within 100 miles of the leeward side of one of the Great Lakes. Pennsylvania northern tier roads are fun in a Camaro, Charger, Challenger, or Mustang, but not so much in a Bulldog, Petercar, or Kennywopper.

@@johnsimpson5406 wow dude thanks for sharing all that info that is amazing, and you're absolutely right i really believe that inexperienced truckers should really avoid dangerous roads like those you described, take the Colorado accident for example... I believe is kind of dangerous that some people can get a CDL in about 6 months or less hop in the cab of an automatic transmission truck thinking is like driving your typical sedan or pick up truck...

@@alejandrofallas9734 Just a point of clarification I mistyped about Indiana, PA and U.S.219, I should have typed U.S. 119, because the 2 merge together up north near Dubois, and 219 is east of Indiana, PA, over towards Johnstown and Ebensburg in the southern tier of PA. I tend to lump 219 and 119 together, since I would do business in Indiana, then hit Johnstown and Ebensburg to the east before heading north on 219 or 119 in order to hit Dubois, Brockway, and Ridgeway before returning to the Steel city. After enough years it becomes automatic and everything blends and gets lumped together. My apologies. It's only for clarification, all other points remain unchanged. I am sure that you noticed in the video that this roadway is an exclusive "for trucks only" bypass setup. PENNDOT constructed this due to a loaded tri-axle dump losing it's brakes on the extremely steep approach to Ridgeway on 219 from the south. At the bottom of the hill on the regular 219 roadbed the business district of Ridgeway sits in the valley and the tri-axle took out several buildings and as I recall there were several fatalities, unfortunately. So PennDot made a road cut on the east side slope of the mountain that overlooks Ridgeway from the southeast. Hell, we even have a sandbox on the southern approach to Pittsburgh before you enter the Fort Pitt tunnels into the city. Three or so decades ago a Maine based driver, with a suspended license, and an expired inspection on his Maine based rig took out several cars stopped in traffic congestion on the hill before burying the rig axle deep over the end edge of the runaway sandbox. The results: Lawsuits, PennDot enlarging the runaway ramp, and it served as the catalyst and final straw for the implementation of a national CDL here in America. Finally, yes I saw the video of the Colorado mishap along with a few others coming off the front range of the Rockies. Too many village idiots on the superslab. God preserve us all. Have a good and safe holiday and weekend dude!!!

Been there, done that. That whole trip between I-80 in PA and SR17 (now I-86) in NY is a very scenic drive but if you're loaded heavy, don't get in a hurry. There are a lot of monster pulls and gear shifting! Bootjack pass!

These videos are deceiving. You really don t get a sense for how steep this grade is. Listen to his Jake. Its pushing hes on a grade. Look at those signs. Look at the senery over the trees he up there.. nothing to mess with. Unlike a car we don t get a second chance

They want you to heat your brakes up before you hit the hill. It’s a democrat strategy for safe decent. One step better than portagee overdrive which is,… kick’er in the middle and let’er rip!
