Dear Peter, my name is Marco Ciargo, I was born in Caracas in 1961 to Italian parents. In my adolescence Frampton Came Alive was quite an experience and being able to go to your concert in Caracas was amazing after having seen you so much in the pictures of the album with your three pickup guitar while I was listening to you with my headphones. In that year I had a band called Resistencia and I was one of the guitarists, we had released our first LP and we had many concerts around the country. One of them was on November 12, 1982 at the baseball stadium "Cesar Nieves" in the town of Catia La Mar, a town very close to the airport where the cargo plane crashed with your team. That day in the afternoon while we were setting up our equipment on the stage where we were going to perform, some fans of the group approached us to meet us who lived in the town of Catia La Mar, while we were sitting talking with them in the stands of the stadium the conversation of the Frampton plane crash and the regrettable loss of all the equipment of the group came up, especially the loss of Peter's Les Paul, when one of the guys told us that a friend of his came to the runway after the accident and recovered the burnt case with Peter's guitar, I imagine that he had not been alone in arriving to the place to take advantage of what to take and that he had sold the guitar to someone who lived in Curacao or that he had taken it. This remained an urban legend that lived in the uncertainty of the facts. I remember that it crossed my mind to go and buy the guitar to give it back to Peter, I was 21 years old at the time and he could have rewarded me with another good guitar, but I never worried about that happening because it would not have been so easy to find it. When I saw for the first time on KZbin the video of Peter's guitar found in Curaçao I said to myself that it was true then, that the guitar was in Curaçao. I was very happy about that reunion because in a very distant way I felt involved in that story that seemed to be more implausible than true.

Summer of '76 in Blackpool. I'm a poor student with no money and a very cheap stereo. I walk past Harry Wiseman's HiFi shop on Dickson Rd and hear live music through the door. I walk in and stand in front of the speakers. My first taste of Frampton Comes Alive. Harry approaches, I fancy the Toshiba cassette deck but can't afford it. 'What can you afford?' He asks. I put a deposit down, pay the rest in installments. I also buy the album and have enjoyed it now for over 40 years. Nice one Peter!

This is the best version of the story of The Phenix I've seen up to this point. The way this video is superior (for me) to other tellings of this story is the inclusion of Mark Mariana, the man who gave Peter the guitar, and his perspective. He tells us more details about the guitar, the backstory of how it was acquired, repaired and used for a brief period of time. Finally he explains how and most importantly, why, he gave the guitar to Peter as a gift. For me, this is the missing piece of the puzzle, and brings us full circle.

Peter Frampton was one of the primary musical threads that I grew up with. Pivotal influencing the music that I came to prefer. I have loved the LP style guitar all my life and own one of my own. That is all endearing but the thing I appreciate most is that when he got his baby in hand again, Mr. Frampton just fixed it, (Had it fixed) and then played it, I am so tired of vintage guitars being put behind glass and no longer played. It was, and still is today why the guitar was crafted, assembled and sold to someone. The guitar can share no love unless it is played. Thank you Mr. Peter Frampton not just for the music of my life but also for simply playing your guitar, both then and again now.

It was the 10th show on which he played the Phenix after Gibson had completed the repairs to it. I love Peter's playing, but I went to see the guitar almost as much as to see him. It's just one of the most iconic instruments in the history of music. For years, I've wished I could see an interview with Marc Mariana and hear his point of view in this incredible story. I'm 67 now and remember buying Comes Alive when I was 19, It was all i listened to for a year. I was lucky to be at the Beacon Theatre in New York in 2013 when he played the entire album for the first time with the ressurected guitar. Just in awe!!

What a Great Story. Sad that it wasn't played by Peter for 31 years. But amazing that it is back in his hands and being played !!! You can just tell how overwhelmed and happy he is that he has it back in his life. Saw Peter in 1976 in Charleston, WV. Rick Derringer was the opener . My first concert at 16 years old. Thanks for sharing your life and talent with us Mr. Frampton !!!

I just found your channel. I can’t begin to tell you how many amazing memories I created with your magical music playing in the background. The only way I can begin to describe your music is magical!! It can never ever be recreated. Once in a lifetime a wizard comes into your life. Thank you wizard Peter!!

This axe was just meant to be in Pete’s Hands.. good man that gave it to a good man. I saw you with Humble Pie as a warm up to Grand Funk in 1970… Cleveland Public Hall .. I was 14.. the whole evening was amazing.. from what I remember..

I was in that concert in Caracas, the day after we heard about the Frampton equipments crash, a guy in La Guaira took the guitar and hide it for years. Too many guitar players in Caracas were looking after to buy it from that guy, (me too) but all efforts were in vane. The years passed by and the issu was forgotten, nobody talked about it no more, until this video..!!! Congrats Mr. Frampton

Awesome musician! Awesome guitar! Awesome story! I'm so glad it was found and made it's way back home! The Phoenix is one of my favorite guitars of all time! I hope some day I can get one of the signature models!

When the Custom Shop guy talks about this being the most interesting guitar/guitar story, I think about another 3 PU Black Lester. The return of Page's black custom. Two different, but similar stories. How both of these guitars were recovered is amazing. Although the story behind Page's still seems to be cloaked in mystery with just basic/broad details. Good stuff.

Still blows my mind that pages guitar was being used to shield flying bottles in bars and punk clubs for 20 years

“Do you feel” is among the greatest live performances ever, if not the greatest. Everything worked perfectly, right down to the audience. They were part of the performance, and they were spot on in their give and take interaction. The crescendo was pivotal, and I doubt many people appreciate the timing of the effects pedal switching. I get goosebumps every time I hear it!

I am from Caracas and my older brother went to your concert. I am not surprised that a venezuelan guard stole your guitar. Congratulations that you recovered your precious instrument. You were the first rock musician that came to Caracas to play to a big audience.

Do we feel like you do? Yes! That's true! We feel like we that guitar is an extension of you, Mr. Frampton, which is in reality an important part of our lives, sir, and we thank you for that! We're very happy you're whole again, we are too!

And, on top of everything, the very talented composer, the extraordinary guitar player, the gentle and warm dude he is... Frampton loves cats, too! Thanks for documenting the story of the return of his beloved Gibson. I am sure they will never part ways again.

I was about 10 when frampton comes alive came out. I was blown away completely. I remember playing air guitar to every song on the album for hours and hours. My dad ended up buying me a guitar and getting me lessons which turned my life around. You were one of my biggest influences and I'm not sure I wouldve picked up guitar without your influence. I am also grateful you have your guitar back, that's just an amazing story of how it all happened. But its home now!!!
