Amen! I can tell you after being married to my husband Ken for 40 marriage is definitely an adventure! And yes, filled with the heart aches, heartbreaks, triumphs, laughter, joys, and also love. We are thankful to have God as a leader in our lives. More blessings as you continue on with your journey.

Very good! My husband and I are on our 40th year of marriage. We had a pastor tell us years ago this story of a wife who when she made breakfast, she would make the toast and give her husband the heel. She did this for years. Finally the husband asked her why? Why do you always give me the heel when you make the toast? She said the heel is my favorite and I want you to have the best. We have always lived our life with each other that way. We always want the other to have the heel! Blessings! Jackie from Indiana

I loved what you said about becoming adaptable in marriage, Peter. I have chronic health problems ( 6 major surgeries in the last 7 years, including a 10 hour back surgery 5 mths ago), & you have to be adaptable with health problems. I think sacrificial love is a gift! I love the quote "Freedom is doing more than is required of you". I'm glad that due to Trikafta, you were able to celebrate 10 years together!

We can always learn something new, and renew our thoughts about sacrificial love. Thank you, Peter and Mary.

You both inspire me and remind me that in all things Jesus is the reason. My husband and I have just celebrated 22 years of marriage. We’ve lived through infertility, adoption, multiple surgeries, MS, and more but through it all the love for each other and the wanting of the other to have more has been the glue to hold us tight. I thank God that He gave us each other.

I envy you both (in a positive way) im 36 almost 37 in march and just envy and want the love like you both have. i have 2 boys and am a single mother (i will never regret because they both have got me through family members deaths) Mary, you are such and inspiration for what you are going through with CF and every single day you kick CF's butt and you smile while doing so. You are basically telling satan "hey, bite the dust." Peter, you have shown me that there are still great Godly men out there. I wish i could explain what i mean more but im never good with words. you both resemble a marriage of what i have always dreamed of.

I loved this podcast! I have a rare bone disease and have always used crutches. Of course my husband knew this as I experienced a break while we were engaged. We were married 15 years and God blessed us with two daughters. And he left. I reared our daughters as a single parent with little involvement from him since he left the area. After many years I’m still trying to understand why, especially when I hear something like this podcast. I accept that God is God and I am not, but I would sure like to know the answer. Thanks for your daily vlogs and your podcasts!

One final comment, there is a song I grew up to that shaped my thought on love and it states “love is not a feeling it’s an act of your will” (it may even be the title of the song!!) by Don Francisco. Anyway. It’s not denying at all the emotional connection of love but rather, sacrificial love is a choice that you make! I’m not married but I tell my friends that I’m close with that I CHOOSE to love them and so I’m not leaving them! There may not be times I like them, but I’ll always love them because I choose that! God gives the grace to do that but it’s absolutely a choice regardless of whether I’m struggling to like them in that moment or not. And so I do things as lovingly as I can as demonstrated in the Bible as I can because that is what I choose. I think so many people are swayed by feelings...but feelings come and go which is why wedding vows become so important. Just my two cents 😁

Wow, I can't believe it's been ten years! I hope to read Adventures* some day haha XD I love how you two really dig deep and have a serious conversation, but also make light hearted jokes and find joy through Christ!!! Thank you thank you THANK you for sharing about the verse saying "this mystery is profound, but I am really speaking of Christ and the church." SO powerful that marriage is a picture of something deeper and points us to Christ's love for us!! Thank you also for saying that marriage is not the goal- I definitely need to hear that today! As a single woman, I also really appreciate what God's taught you in marriage and I want to learn to become more self-sacrificial even in my singleness. Do you have any advice for how to do that?

As Mary explained the first two living arrangements, I could see the movie. I could see it as a comedy with reflections of the truth of life. What a wonderful GODly movie their Love story would make. The movie: The first 10years. The right Director, Writer, and performers could make their marriage movie a wonderful discipleship opportunity

Be careful... I used to look much younger than my years. Then one day I bet a co-worker that he couldn't guess how old I was. He guessed it right on the nose and kind of burst my bubble. Enjoy it while it lasts.
