I'm starting over after a 20 year break, too! It took me just a short while, a few weeks, to get back to where I was. I was pretty good in high school, but never so great that a career in art was encouraged, especially growing up in a blue-collar rural town. Nowadays, there's so many resources and communities online, and winter is slow in my feild of work

Same, and it's really helping me just draw again. Not even the technical part, just getting out of my own head and my mind goblins. Like, sometimes I just need to be reminded that the act of drawing itself is learning, regardless of the piece you produce.

Crotch Banister , hi I am absolutely loving using the pen, it glides smoothly across the page and leaves pigment effortlessly. I was having pains in my wrist and hands from gripping smaller technical pens and pressing hard. This has the widest barrel of all my pens. Has given me renewed joy of drawing without fear of overuse pains in my hand.

Like music, people think that drawing or painting comes from some sort of born gift. In short, geniouses aren't born, any craft artistic or practical requires mostly repitition, muscle memory and experience. "First you must learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist" - Pablo Picasso. It's especially bad with music, perhaps because it's a more visceral experience, but also because people don't see the 20 years of practice when someone goes on stage, or even when they see a sketch. Things take time, and in time most people can learn almost anything.

The flex nib was FA nib which is on a few different pilot pens. Lots of people have trouble with it, even he does in his little strokes. Mine works perfectly for me, it might be the ink he's using, I think he might be using kiwa guro or maybe just sailor black. iroshizuku inks work well in it. welcome to the rabbit hole, turn back now and settle for a lamy safari or waste 100s of dollars. He said his Sailor was a fine.
