I think one thing I love so much about their friendship is its' durability. Friendships are hard to maintain. They're a lot of work like any other relationship. But as you get older you realize what kind of relationships you want to have and start making very conscious decisions to get up every day and work at it. A lot of bands and friendships would not survive what they've been through. But they decided what's important to them and just seem to be kindred spirits. It's very sweet.

Yeah, Patrick said in an interview that post-hiatus, one of their rules coming back was that the band would be much more inclusive and cohesive. Patrick says that he feels Joe at times felt resentful of the bond he and Pete shared and didn't want to be left out on the fringes of the band. It is probably difficult at times to be a part of a band where two of the members are so creatively in-sync and share a different relationship.
