Thanks to everyone who tuned into our Live Event last week. I've never done anything like that before, and I was pretty nervous. Hope it was ok. If you saw it, it was a pretty accurate picture of what life is like at the moment. Jabez and I sit in that editing room all day, every day, editing the second Hobbit movie, and we actually start on the third next week! A lot of that movie was shot nearly a year ago, so I'm looking forward to seeing it come alive, shot by shot in the cutting room. It's like assembling one of those complex 2000 piece jigsaw puzzles. For us, this is really the being of 2013, so I look forward to posting a bunch more stuff as we work through the year. I think that an edited version of the Live Event is being made available over at the official Hobbit site, and Warner Bros have kindly let me post a 6 min excerpt here, to give everyone who missed it a sense of what it was like. Cheers, Peter J

I love how Peter Jackson just sits on the couch in his bare feet, drinking tea. He's always so chilled for a guy working on such complex movies. The way he acts you would think he was making a little project for college, rather than a multi-million blockbuster film!

These left east of Misty Mountains. Some of Nandor later reached Beleriand, Laiquendi (some of them), however, stayed in Ossiriand. These with the Sindar are signified as the Silvan Elves, although, strictly speaking, some sources identify as Silvan only those elves who stayed at Anduin and are not Laiquendi. Thus, Nandor are devided into Laiquendi and ''original'' Silvan. Into Teleri, also Falmari are counted, who reached Aman. Yes, it is a bit convoluted. I recommend The Encyclopedia Of Arda.

Since Legolas is Thranduil's son and Thranduil is a Sinda, they are both Sindar, meaning Grey Elves, which makes good sense. The Silvan Elves (The Elves Of The Woods or Tawarwaith) is a general term for the elves of Lothlórien and entire Woodland Realm (resp. Mirkwood), whether they are the descendants of Nandor, Laiquendi of Ossiriand (The Green Elves who are a fraction of Nandor) or a mixture of any of them with Penni or any other tribe of Avari. Therefore, Legolas and Thranduil are both.

I think he knows perfectly well that it is not real, but people are allowed to be interested in different things - it is a hobby to him that he loves. I see it to be like a rugby fan knowing all the rules to the game, or a Formula 1 fan knowing all the drivers and the teams they belong too. Same principle, but in a slightly different context, that's all

Just to site one scene as an example, the riddle session between Gollum and Bilbo plays out in much less time and is far clearer in the cartoon than the H:UJ. My girlfriend hadn't read the book, saw the movie, couldn't follow it other than "Talk, Run, Talk, Fight, Talk, Run Fight, Run, Fight," and then watched the cartoon, and asked "Why didn't we just watch this?"
@aeswhtp11 жыл бұрын
Right, the Silvan are not only of Teleri, but also of the tribes of Avari. It is necessary to realise Sindar in Mirkwood rule Nandor + Laiquendi and Avari, who all had been therein initially, as they forsook the wandering Teleri or did not heed Orome’s call respectively. But, since Avari’s tribes are manifold, they are not usually mentioned as having anything to do with the Silvan found in Teleri, which are then devided into well-known Sindar (who all reached Beleriand) and Nandor + Laiquendi.

The proper answer to your question is he didn't. The staff he uses when the fellowship leave Rivendell is different. The staff he carried before hand is Radagast's, although how he comes to own it I'm not sure. The only difference between the movies is that Radagast's staff has longer branches, whereas the one in the FOTR looks as though they have been snapped off. This isn't from the books by the way, this is for the movies :)

Actually that is the female elf character Tauriel, who IS in the Hobbit book. She is the head of the Elven Guard of Mirkwood and a close friend and companion to Legolas. They are not "creating" a female elf character; she is already a character. They are simply choosing to expand her role, just as they are expanding the role of Legolas.
