See how Fran is so pleasant and caring when shes sober? The drugs really do put so much anger and frustration in your heart. When people get sober their personality does a 180. Very sad to see because addiction is worse than it ever has been. So many people out there suffering like this. Had a life long friend who was the coolest dude ever, was so chill, funny as hell, we thought just alike and never got angry or annoyed with each other no matter what. Well his lovely mother started giving him painkillers in High school, he became addicted pretty much immediately and he just became the biggest jerk in the world. Every little thing bothered him and he would talk so much sh*t to you for no reason, you could tell he would just sit there and getting angry at every little thing you did. He got into this "thug" mode and hated anything that would make him seem weak or like a "white boy" in any way which caused huge riffs between us because I never seen being a thug as cool cause I grew up in the Hood of Milwaukee and knew what it was really all about. His mom messaged me on Facebook a year ago (At this time I had not talked to him in like 7 years) begging me to start hanging out with him again and help change his environment because he was shooting up Fentanyl now which led to him getting arrested for falling asleep on the side of the highway, cops woke him up and found all dope/tools. I still worry about him a lot but honestly I was so scared to get close to him again, I wouldn't be able to handle him ODing and I really didnt want to get involved with that stuff again because I had trouble with it too, if you hang out with drug users you will become one eventually. Im even scared to message his mom and check up on him. Sorry for the novel but it just helps emotionally to write this stuff out sometimes, that situation really bothered me when I was a teenager and still does to this day. It was just like losing a good friend forever because he was a completely different person. This show makes me think of him and all the other friends I lost to the opiates....so many good kids. I pray for all the addicts every night.

This series was something I watched when I was a suburban addict just getting started. My boosting partner and I made most of our dope money from shoplifted DVDs, and this happened to be a box set that I ended up with and watched before we sold it to the CD store. It has always stuck with me. I was a fan of Charles Dutton from his days on Roc. This series was really well made, and has stood the test of time. I'm in recovery now, 30-some years later.

As an ex addict this show reminds me what a hell on earth addiction was, yet at the same time watching them use makes me want to use again too. And I never even shot up before. Addiction is the devil.. Just like when Gary went through that excruciating pain in jail while being forced to get clean, and even though he made it through the withdrawals, he still went right back to using the day he got out. Thats how strong the temptation is. Youre willing to feel all that pain and go through all that hell just to feel okay for a couple hours.

Yup the glossy eyes and pale look. With crack you can’t hide it for long but opioids if you know how to use it, nobody can really tell unless you’re nodding out everywhere which doesn’t happen to real opioid addicts. I was on percs for years before I admitted to my people’s I was hooked. I think they knew though, just turned a blind eye like they always do. I wouldn’t shower and looked like a bum, this is coming from a person who got best dressed in HS and took 2 showers a day faithfully. I made it so obvious sometimes too, most people were happy to see me fall anyways. It’s crazy lol like damn y’all hated me this whole time huh? Now y’all can compete with me 😅.

i love how the gun fight is terrible, these are just inexperienced kids not hardened criminals. much like we see happening with the cops in the station with andre when they begin to soften to him and warm up to him and i think genuinely like him despite being on the other side of the law, you cant help but sympathize for dre and dink and the others even though they do shit like get in shoot outs over drug turf. because at the end of the day they're still good kids and not inherently bad people, tender with their families and they care for each other and dre is good with children, they're likeable but just in a hopeless situation.
@happyheavenly42002 жыл бұрын
the gun fight gave me such anxiety. like no wonder little kids end up getting shot in their beds when fools like this are running while shooting behind them IN THE DARK. im like are they even trying to hit their target or just fire off shots and make noise.. so disorganized and how innocent ppl get killed. they need to stick to bb guns and paintballs treating guns like toys with no proper training. i know its a show but this stuff happens in real life and families, old ppl, and children have to live around it.
