Oh I was in and around Almaty (and a few days in Kyrgyzstan) like two months ago, loved Almaty and the mountains and landscapes around it. Such a beautiful and also really modern city but so close to amazing nature as well. Definitely one of the best cities I went to so far and I think it will stay as that for a long time. Miss it and the mountains in the background; definitely want to go back, greetings from Sweden.

That driver put the biggest smile on my face, the energy and optimism in life at that age. Wow hats off to him and thank you for making this content. I just found out about one of Kazakhstan's most popular artist Dimash and now having a look the country, getting mixed messages about the corruption stuff, but I definitely will pay a visit to the country. Ahahha Niaz is so fun. Basically he says that he is 73, has a second wife who is 46 y.o, as the first one passed away due to health problems. He has 11kids and 40 something grandkids. He says that his young wife helps him to stay young too :) maaaaan, he looks so young. I the end he wishes to all Americans a good health, always a have an opportunity to travel around the world ❤️

You said you don’t know why you’re not allowed to swim in the lake and as someone who lives in Almaty I’ve been told the lake is actually a large water source for the city, so that’s probably why ^^ It’s great to see more foreigners exploring Kazakhstan, it’s a nice place for the most part! not sure how safe it would be to swim there . it is downstream from where the USSR used to carry out their nuclear testing, above and below ground . Being downstream might mean that a lot gets carried down that way

@@PeterSantenello There the water temperature is 3-4 degrees Celsius. Swimming in such water is life threatening. And more specifically. General hypothermia, cold burn, from hypothermia of the spine, you can lose consciousness and choke

The Semipalatinsk test site is not a Bikini Atoll; it’s just as safe as on the Nevada Test Site, at least in Las Vegas, no one complains of radiation sickness

@@bauerjan7887 Kyiv is the Ukrainian spelling , and Kazakhstan is the correct as well , i know a lady that was brought up there and then returned to KHerkiv , but she still spells that as Kharkov (Russian) , hard to break some habits after living with it so long

Peter Santenello honestly Since in your videos, you focus on people’s behavior and city structures and buildings, your videos by far are the most helpful for tourists, while others focus on just food or they show just poorly a few places without any explanation. If you have traveled other countries except Ukraine Iran Kazakhstan We’ll be so happy to watch them.

You can't go in the lake as it's the main water source for Almaty City, there is a guard there that stops anyone going too close 💖

That's true even in my country (Indonesia), people don't fancy to visit Stan countries. In my country, for most people, travel Western Europe or North Americas is a standard of best places for holiday. But, it won't work to me, I wanna visit ex-USSR countries as they have pretty interesting history. Thumbs up for you travel videos Peter!

I grew up in Almaty as a teenager and my heart always fills up with such nostalgia and yearning for the place when I see footage like this. Lifelong dream to visit again. Let me tell you, my friend about why Kazakhstan is so religiously balanced, we grew up without religion, religion was something superficial for us, no matter wether you Kazakh, Russian, or other ethnicity. So core of our relationship is more of us living together for centuries and going together trough wars, and prosperity's, and we became one nation! Religion means very little to us!

I'm Russian was born in Kazakhstan in Alma-Ata which called now Almaty but now I'm living in Australia and no one accept me like from Kazakhstan, everyone thinking Kazakhstan is Russia :) of cause it use to be USSR but it is different country. I gave up to explain and now telling everyone I'm from part of Russia which called Kazakstan. All people lives in stereotypes and me too, now I like this guy filming everything around Australia in my point of you and show people it in my videos.
