Just bought 200 Peterson Win Mag cases. First time buying premium brass. Can’t wait.

Cool. I never regretted buying the premium brass for my precision rifle loads

I’m older now and only shoot 223 Rem now. I have been using Lapua for quite a while now. I wanted to try some of the other premium brass manufacturers, but they do not make them in 233. I contacted the various manufacturers and was told that they have no issues lans in the future to offer 233 Rem brass. Guess I’ll be staying with Lapua, but that’s certainly not too bad. Thanks for your video’s!!

You are welcome. And there is certainly nothing wrong with Lapua. Kind of my gold standard for premium brass.

Lapua always gives you an extra case since the amp annealer came out. That way you can amp anneal a piece of brass and get your code.

I did not know that. Thanks DW.

good to know perterson brass is gtg. iv been using lapua in my 223's and 308's for years in f class. iv been building a couple of 338lm rifles and use lapua mostly. and want to get a 37xc barrel for my mrad. david tubb sells 37xc brass and its made by perterson. thanks for doing this test.

You are welcome. I actually started using this brass recently (along with Lapua) to craft loads for my 300 PRC. That is the topic of our next season of Extreme Reloading which begins in October. Thanks again for watching.

Thanks for sharing. May I ask if you compared the internal volume between the two sets of brass? Based on my personal experience and testing, I found that there is no correlation between case weight and case volume. I found the Lapua case volume to be very consistent. I am sure the Peterson brass' case volume is consistent as well. Please confirm. I enjoy your videos. Thanks.

Thanks for watching and good question. In this instance I did not compare case volume but I agree it is an important parameter also. I have had problems getting consistent, repeatable measures with case volume to the point where testing the same case 10 times gives me slightly different case volume measurements using water or alcohol. What technique do you use?

I usually just buy lapua and not worry about it. Good to have options though.

Stay with Peterson if you can not get your calibers with Alpha or Lapua there made in the USA. In my own testing and use, you will find its very good brass. I'm shocked. I do have to full length resize and trim more, but it's durable and holds up just fine.

Is Lapua great brass? Yep. So is Peterson...and it's made in Pennsylvania by an American company.
