Thank you Noelle, for all of your information especially on rose disease prevention& deadheading on how to prune down to the fifth leaf! Spraying with wilt stop is a great tip if we are experiencing a cold winter. Have a nice day!

Hiya! I just started adding roses to my garden and filming the progress for my KZbin channel too. Oh I learned many new things watching this especially WHERE to deadhead the spent rose - I never used to deadhead the leaves for the group of 3 leaves cause I thought the rose may need as many leaves for chlorophil energy as possible, but I will now deadhead until the group of 5 leaves, or better yet to the new growing point -- thanks!

How can I tell what 1” of water a week is if I get no rain all week? Do I measure in a bucket? Water the plant for a certain number of seconds with a spraying hose? I’m really confused about this. Thanks so very much for your help. Mary, zone 7b in north Alabama. 🌺

You guess of how much of the soil around rose is saturated just imagine how much of the soil is saturated around each root..Basically give it a good long drink but don’t drown the rose. Give Rose a good solid drink once a week if weather is dry.

@@PetittiGardenCenters this was perfect! I have been watering my bushes and perennials for 30 seconds and had no clue if that was right or not. I had thought watering on the drip line is best rather than near the base of the plant. True? Also, should I try to water 360° around the plant or ok to water one side of the plant? Thank you so very much? 7b. 🌺

“One inch of water” = applying enough water to the soil in 5he area above the rose’s roots to make water to the depth of one inch before it begins soaking in.

Why do we hear so much conflicting information about burying vs not burying the graft?
@PetittiGardenCenters3 жыл бұрын
It has a lot to do with what Cold Hardiness Zone you live in, the type of soil you have, and trial and error of growers in the region. We have found in NEO that if the graft/bud union is buried it tends to rot, essentially losing the desirable, grafted rose on top of the less desirable root stock. Should the graft be protected in winter, yes, but after a hard freeze in late Nov./Dec. then pile on your protective mulch, burlap, etc.

How can I get a bush with the Valentine’s Day 🌹 roses?
@PetittiGardenCenters Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, Petitti's will not be growing 'Valentine's Day' climbing rose in 2023, but our closest alternative is 'Cherry Frost': www.starrosesandplants.com/plants/cherry-frost/ We should have 'Red Streamer' and 'Blaze' as alternate red climbing roses too.

Any home made fertilicer? Like banana watter or something?
@PetittiGardenCenters7 ай бұрын
Using a homemade fertilizer is up to you. We recommend products, like Rose-tone, that we have used in gardening & growing, trialed & tested, and have success with them.
