Wow, I’ve been growing and collecting all kinds of snake plants for the past year but I did not know to let the end dry 5-7 days before propagating in water. Thank you for that tip. Although I’ve been successful in growing in water, But not all of them will root, maybe that is why. Thank you again! I enjoy your channel very much.

Lots of great information! I have moonshine, whale fin, and a smaller all green rosette type snake plants. I grow mine under grow lights. Even in winter they want water about every two weeks. The whale fin will wrinkle if I for get to water it at at the three week mark. The moonshine, and all green plants are currently pushing up new clusters.

Noelle, I have always enjoyed growing snake plants indoors as they are beautiful and add life.color, along with purifing air in an area of your home that needs a decorative touch. I think the variety, fernwood is just beautiful! Thanks for your video with explanation of many types of snake plants!

You didn’t talk about blooms. All of mine have bloomed at least once and many are repeat bloomers. You have to cut the bloom off before it starts falling apart. They excrete a sticky sap-type of nectar that you will have a really hard time getting off anything it touches. Don’t ask me how I know. 🥴

Sorry! I didn't mention blooms because when snake plants are grown indoors, they rarely do produce them. Yes, they can be very sticky and fragile, but fragrant, and enjoyed for a short period of time. Goo Gone works well for sap removal!

I have propagated a Sayuri and it did what I expected. I had 2 leaves, #1 was cut with part of the base of the plant and #2 was cut at soil level. They both produced roots nicely and #2 produced a reverted pup pretty quickly. #1 had part of the base and it still has not given me a pup. This is about a 1 year experiment. I think I have about 25 different snake plants and I love them all. Many are under grow lights and some are getting too tall for the space they’re in. I’m going to remove leaves and propagate them and then root the top portion and start over.

Question - what causes the brown tips on the cylindrical varieties?
@PetittiGardenCenters56 минут бұрын
There are actually quite a few different things that can cause brown tips on Sansevieria. Brown leaf tips on most tropical plants is typically due to lack of humidity. Snake plants can take drought, but increased humidity levels can be beneficial, especially in winter when you want to avoid irrigation. Other causes may be too much direct sun exposure, leaf tips touching cold windows, overfertilizing, and extremes of irrigation, overwatering then underwatering.

One of my cats chewed the tips of each leaf and now my plant is not very attractive. What to do? Not getting rid of my cats!
@PetittiGardenCenters58 минут бұрын
You can trim up the leaves so they look a bit more tidy. Cut the chewed leaves with sharp, sanitized pruners or scissors to mimic the natural, pointed shape of their lance leaves. Be aware, the tips will callus, resulting in a "woody" edged leaf tip.

Do ALL Snake plants grow slow ? ❄️⛄️💚🙃I bought a whale fin last summer and it still hasn’t given me any new leaves ? ❄️⛄️💚🙃

Whale Fins grow slower than the regular snake plants 🌱
@PetittiGardenCenters54 минут бұрын
Yes, they are all fairly slow growers. The larger leaves the slower it grows, so 'Whale Fin' is the slowest. Faster growth will occur with optimal, consistent care.
