thank you youtube for enabling me to find sheer class such as this i love the original so much and it's been covered so many times frequently badly but having said that i absolutely love this version thank you kris for posting but thank you petra and co for covering it in the first place

I'm not sure I love all the choices she made, but the way Petra & co covered the guitar solo was really creative. Great inspiration for other acapella groups. Thank you!

What choices didn't you fall deeply in love with Joanna?

that is the coolest.... Petra should come to Dallas, TX, I'd totally go see her and her band.

It surprises me that a lot of people here keep complaining about this song getting "covered". Would you really expect anything else from a Great song like this?? Way I see see it Petra Haden is paying tribute to this song with here cover version of it. With interest!! And brilliantly, if I may...

I have to say this is my favorite cover version of Don't Stop Believing, because her voice isn't perfect...it's honest and beautiful because of it's honesty, You can tell if she wanted to sound better or more professional then the whole point of her style would be gone! I love it and for those who don't get it...too bad your missing out on some beautiful popes :)

I really like this cover as well, doesn't hurt that it is performed by some very pretty ladies!

I heard someone play this on CBC radio. I was amazed. I like it much better than the original. I wish they'd play Petra Haden's version on the radio more regularly. Even this live version is amazing.

@Velourium And let's not forget the ever UN-original Jimi Hendrix whose cover of Bob Dylan's "All Around the Watchtower" was so unoriginal that Dylan himself copies Hendrix's arrangement to this day.

You don't diss Petra for her singing nor her lack of viola playing.
@PatRick400115 жыл бұрын
Velourium, you give me many lolz. keep it up. but hey, Twist and Shout was a cover by The Beatles as well as many others. I would agree that there are bad covers and good covers. Petra Haden? Good cover! Jonas Brothers doing Hello Goodbye? BAD cover.

Singing isn't exactly Petra Hayden's forté. She is actually an expert violinist.

Yes indeed...I agree 100%...Least we forget, that envy creates many assholes with many idiotic comments! ;o)
@wellesradio14 жыл бұрын
@Velourium Yes, because Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Little Richard were sooooo unoriginal as artists. They sand nothing but covers (or in Richard's case outright stole them) so it's a given fact that they didn't change how anyone heard music. And they influenced no one.
@thecortni15 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but with a classic like this I feel the singer should strive to be as close as possible to the original. When it's not, it's just cheap karaoke.

@Velourium And what about John Coltrane? Covering show tunes? Give me a break, Colt!! Hey, Glenn Gould! Stop playing those covers and start composing. You're not going to change what people think of piano playing if you keep playing the EXACT same notes as everyone else! How will anyone tell the difference?
