Petraeus on if Ukraine can retake Crimea

“If you can isolate Crimea fully and if you then have the precision munitions with greater range and can start picking off the Black Sea fleet headquarters, the various airbases, various seaports… It is not inconceivable… But again, so much of this is so dependent on… the ability to generate additional forces and capabilities in the next few months.” - Gen. David H. Petraeus

Whenever I have heard General Patraeus speak on any issue regarding this war, he always gives an excellent rational account of what is happening, and ultimately how the end game is likely to play out. If Ukraine is provided with the necessary support further from its allies and partners then there will be no better opportunity to retake Crimea back under Ukranian sovereignty, especially if they have managed to removed the Barbarians from the 4 regions currently partially held by them. It is acknowledged that without the massive support from the United States Ukraine would have struggled immensely. Greetings from a loyal ally across the pond.

There is not enough weapons to win the war. NATO will have to declare war to win and that will be the end of NATO because the Europeans don’t want to fight Russia. NATO will have the Baltic countries, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark but they will soon learn the error of their ways. Perhaps Finland will send their Dancing Queen to seduce Putin. In the event that Russia’s looks like being beaten, there is a good chance that Nth Korea and China will enter the fray

One would think that Russia would have to draw the line at Crimea and that would be a nuclear line. General Betrayus doesn’t even mention that little problem in his analysis. We’re gradually escalating this conflict by providing weapons we were at first afraid to and since World War III hasn’t broken out yet we don’t appreciate the risk.
@tedbaxter5234

The cost of Ukraine winning this war is much less than the cost of Russia winning it. Regardless of who wins, the days we are in now may be known as the preamble to WWIII. I will mention, Russia started this war, it is a war of choice for Putin. For Ukraine, it is a war for existence, no less. The idea that Russia gets their way because they have nukes means they could take Berlin, Paris, London, Washington, DC, ect and they should be opposed. It’s better to fight them now before they get on a strong war footing and figure out how to actually fight. Bless Ukraine and the exact opposite to the invaders that threaten us with nuclear war. You can love Putin, I do not.
@RobBCactive

Putin's other illegal annexations put Crimea in the same category, he didn't offer withdrawal in return for Crimea but pushed for more and lost most of the trained army. Some reports suggest Crimea was turning out sour pre-invasion, bad economy because of isolation and lack of water, making expensive supply over the bridge essential draining resources. Vladolf Pootin has escalated the conflict, the Moskals are the aggressor and chose to persist. Those fools who pay the Dane geld, will soon be blackmailed for more, criminals are never satisfied. The RF cannot win a nuclear war, but are hoping for appeasement playing on those fears.

Despite the nuclear sabre rattling, the only real 'nuclear red line' for Russia is 1) Physical invasion of the Russian homeland. 2) Use of nuclear weapons against it. The rest is bluff and bluster. Nuclear sabre rattling, because that's cost free. Actual nuclear release would make the chances of escalation to a full strategic exchange highly likely, probably within days or even hours. Very high risk for both sides regardless of who starts it. Even Putin is on record as saying 'no one wins a nuclear war'. All it really means is both sides lose, possibly one more so than the other, but there is no winner.

🧑WWIII, The Pentagon has already admitted that members of the Army are already operating on the ground in Ukraine - albeit in an apparently limited capacity - In addition to the 31 tanks from America, Canada, Germany, Poland, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom all are sending tanks with troops operator and support teams into the war zone. In order to achieve that, the pentagon explained, a “trained individual at each of the positions within a tank” is needed, in addition to “a trained crew that knows how to fight well together.” “And then you have to have a trained platoon, platoons in a company; and a company in the battalion; and if you’re talking about the inner-level operations, battalions within brigades etc,” the pentagon said👀

If this is an example of a Modern Major General, it is no surprise the US was chased out of Afghanistan, as the Brits were in 1842? The appearance of any offense from Kyiv, since the beginning of November, has been pretty pathetic. Russia has displayed major patience, as they deal with the NATO Proxy Army. @tedbaxter5234

Unthinkable, perhaps. But also very possible. There is a reason many Generals are speaking to the possibility, they are much more qualified than I. If Russia uses nukes, they have a whole new war, a whole new reality, how will they react? How will the West react? Who will win after that? Who can say, but yes Russia may not have a choice but to leave Crimea because they can’t support it. Of course they could take their miserable murdering butts back to Russia, rebuild, retrain and refit their army and try again, in the face of a crumbling economy, in 7 to 10 years. During that time, Ukraine will be stronger, more militarily fit, closer to the West, they will certainly be more capable than they are now. Putin will be that much older if he lives, new leadership, a new generation, may decide with new factors that Sevastopol is not worth another try. So who knows what will happen? As in most things, time will tell.

In reality Ukraine had before the war 1 990 tanks, 1 212 IFVs, 1 112 heavy artillery systems, 354 multiple rocket launchers. Almost everything was lost along with hundreds of pieces of equipment it got from Eastern Europe. Ukraine also got dozens of polish MiG 29s as "spare parts", dozens of SU 25s from other countries in Eastern Europe, dozens of choppers. Again almost everything was lost. It's obvious that it's just a waste of money. The war is lost by Ukraine.
