I grew up in a very conservative Fundamental Baptist church (King James only, women not allowed to speak on the platform for more than five minutes in a service...the whole bit). Our pastor didn't believe in rock music, not even Christian. However, his one exception was Petra, because it was theologically deep, and sound. He encouraged our youth group to listen to it, and we even sang some of their songs in youth group (in addition to the hymns). I share this to emphasize how biblical Petra is, if a church as conservative as ours still encouraged it. I'm still a conservative Bible believer, but not quite as strict.
