Boys, the first real plane I flew (1:1) was a J3 and I love it! Ive' got a few hours under my belt, and of course I bought 3 RC of them, different wingspans, actually I'm working on a PA18 Clipped Wing 2.0 metres wingspan. But Capt. Blaz, yours is MAGNIFICENT! Nice video. The Cub is pretty much an icon of avation history. My late mother learned to fly on one though she never did get her pilot's license. They used to have to fly low and chase the cows off the field before landing. Sometimes the gas tank leaked a bit so a bar of laundry soap was rubbed on the drip area a bit to stop it prior to flight. If you put a pilot figure in there, I am sure you know the J-3 series was always flown solo from the rear seat. Have fun!

Capt. Blaz I must apologize. I just saw your video of the Super Decathalon and did not realize the engine you will use is a nitro engine. So that being said the fuel tank stopper that came with the kit will be just fine. And yes that engine will be great in this plane. I cannot wait to see it fly.

The red around the star and bar is unique. It was only authorized for a couple of months during 1943 (June and July). As fall came along, many aircraft still had the red-surrounded insignia. Units were too busy to remove it and losses were helping anyway. The AAF did not use red again until it became the independent USAF in 1947 when it and the Navy added the small stripe inside the white rectangles. It mostly disappeared with the advent of low visibility paint schemes. Just a bit of interesting history. Can’t wait to see you on the runway with that beast! Also would love to see your Ryan ST some day.

Exactly. I still think it was the best looking US insignia. Main reason for deleting the red element until post war was the unfortunate tendency of ground or shipboard anti-aircraft gunners to mistake the red for a Japanese hinomaru which sometimes resulted in friendly aircraft being fired on. The British deleted the red from their aircraft operating in the the Pacific theater for the same reason.

How the hell have you now made me want to buy a high wing cub! Brilliant video chaps, Captain Blaz yet again makes IC engine installation seem far easier than it actually is ... he is like the IC-Terminator! Good to see you unboxing and testing a current aircraft as well, I know you like a discontinued bargain like Steptoe (Google it), but this is nice to see. Capt Blaz you cannot use that fuel tank stopper with gas. It is only good for nitro fuel. You must buy a stopper that is good for gas.

Capt. Blaz u can use "T" pins to secure the hinges. Shove them thru the hinge with a drop of expoxy glue and cut flush with side cutters,

That looks great, the ASP twin will definitely make it look and sound great! I am going to build a Great Planes Cub for my Saito T60 flat twin, I think you will find getting the cowl right around the engine a bit of a challenge, cutting it horizontally to get the cylinders coming out either side. If you were referring to noise reduction on the camera settings, that is more than likely noise reduction as in taking away any grainy footage, not actual sound.
