As part of a petroleum restoration program contract with the state of Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection, Terracon, a leading environmental remediation consultant firm was selected to bid on remediating petroleum impacts on a site near a university’s student recreational facility and adjacent to the popular Collegetown section in the state’s capital.
The former site operated as a building supply where historic petroleum releases due to underground storage tank leaks resulted in petroleum impacts above Florida DEP regulatory standards.
After a thorough evaluation of viable remedies, Terracon selected a combined remedial approach incorporating PetroFix Remediation fluid applied by both direct push injection and excavation. This innovative approach was believed to be the most viable and cost-effective means address the BTEX impacts and achieve the aggressive regulatory goals for the project while also meeting the tight schedule and budget set as part of the performance-based contract.
