Classic father/son car story, the kind Petrolicious does best. Anyone who has worked on a project with a family member or close friend knows how the journey or process of the project is often the most rewarding part. Many of us can also relate to the same feeling seen here of that first time you turn the key on a completed restoration or long project and drive it out of the garage. It's at that exact moment you realize that all of your dreams, ideas and hard work have come to fruition and that's what keeps so many of us enthusiastic about cars. The only time that emotion gets better is when its shared with a father, mother, son, daughter, best friend, etc. (And the fact they used one of the greatest sports cars ever made makes this a truly special story for me.) Petrolicious at its absolute best this morning.

Your words are so true and very touching, Monsieur Eric. I yearn the days when my late father tought me the proper use of tools, the reasons of this or that procedure, the importance of proper sequence use of a torque wrench, etc. I'm now 65, sadly with no children. My Dad died 30 years ago but I still think about him when repairing something - How would you do it, Dad ? Sweet, endearing memories. Thank you Petrolicious.

Marc René Yvon I too learned everything from my father. I think the reason this story resonated so much for me is because my father is quite ill and doesn't have much time left. Since I'm 43 and never had children I've been thinking often lately about how much my father taught me and I'll have no one to pass down those lessons. The thing I also found so amazing about this story is the first projects my dad and I ever worked on were a Volkswagen Beetle and then a 1963 356C. (my dad made me practice on the VW before we started the 356.) Although I was 15 at the time I understood how the days spent in the shop and the lessons I learned there were more important than the car itself. Even though I still own that car today, and few people even know that I do, as special as it is I don't really look at it as a Porsche. I look at it as a continuing reminder of how to work hard, take time to do things correctly and enjoy the journey. When you think about the relationship between Dr. Porsche and his sons, what better car to do it in.

Marc René Yvon My father is 82 years old. Back in the late 70's, we worked together on a 1948 VW Beetle back in Cuba and He tought me how to work with tools (and repair them to be able to work!) Tools from the 40's & 50's! Back then, we didn't have anything in Cuba and we had to pretty much restore everything. We spent countless hours, weekends and afternoons trying to fix, recondition, repair and maintain everything around us. From an old GE fan, to my old Niagra bicycle. I had a dream to build my own Harley, so when I was 15 he brought me a 1947 Flat Head in parts and boxes. He had paid almost his entire savings! It took me one full year to rebuild that monster and we did it together. That's a love story. Today, one of the kids is 9 years old and, I have the feeling he will follow his grandpa and myself. He can figure how to fix anything. Our hobby is fixing and restore things at our own back yard in Florida.

The 356 is one of my dream cars. So graceful, it looks competent and purposeful standing still. On the road it looks like art. I could have had a good 356A in the mid-90s for ten grand, passed it up. C'est une magnifique voiture.

I used to not really like green and now I want multiple green cars. My dad has an SC and I wish it was the dark metallic green Porsche has, I saw it on the 930 in the museum. I love this lighter seafoam green though. I have a 240Z and I've seen some nice greens on those as well, I love my orange car though.
