I’ve been spraying everything with a mixture of neem oil and hot pepper spray. So far, I see minimal damage from the deer, rabbits, and insects. (knock on wood) They’re smart. Once you spike them, they’ll stay away at least for a while.

That's great Will -- sounds like you have a good program working for you! That's a double-whammy for bad insects and wildlife -- good idea! I'm using Repels-All with moderate success, coupled with planting rabbit-resistant plants, although the rabbits haven't read up on which plants they should avoid. Hot pepper didn't seem to bother these guys. Most unfortunately. 🤣

I laughed out loud when you told us it was 900 degrees out and 450% humidity. You have such a soothing voice. I’m in 8B, and the annual vincas are not eaten by the rabbits. The only thing that will overtake them is winter. I bet the catmint will help keep them away, too. My landscaper also told me about fox urine pellets. Superbenas don’t do well in our clay soil I’m 8B Texas. So I keep them in containers. The turtle was so cute! Gaura behind the big stones would be so cute, floating in the wind.

900F & 350% humidity! 😅😂😁. Does feel like that sometimes in the summer for us…but not just yet so my garden is still looking lush…but yours is looking gorgeous Laura! Rabbits 🐇 in your garden and pill bugs in mine…never ending problem in our gardens! Li Sweet Henri spirea is beautiful Laura…like that they stay dwafish…and also seem to be a little more tamed? Beautiful calming video! Love it! 💚🙏🪴. Happy gardening Laura!

Yes, the Little Henry stays at exactly that height, and I'm thrilled there's a few runners, because I was actually going to plant a third one there anyway. Their Fall color is red and carries well into December. ❤️Happy weekend gardening Tracy!

Lol….”so hot so why not stay here” and talk more about gardening! Those darn rabbits 🐇 hopefully vinca will be rabbit proof! Who does not love to deadhead plants??? I’m always in the garden looking for weed to pull or seed heads to deadhead! Love cat mint…can’t wait! 💚🙏🪴

😂I knew you could relate to staying outside in the heat! I think Mother Nature invented deadheading so that we can calm ourselves after the frustration of garden pests! Same with you: weeding is so relaxing. My mind completely empties of every worry! Well, I might still think about plants...

I've not lost but one plant due to the booger bunnies but I also have a choco lab that bolts after them if they come in my yard. Get ya' a dog that'll chase them! So, your sick rose is ok now? It looks it. I did figure out mine does not have disease at all, thank goodness. That annual Vinca is gorgeous! I bought a Pink Drift Rose this Spring that has that same petal structure. It's bright pink with a bright yellow center. Normally I'm more drawn to the double petals on a rose but something about this one is endearing and beautiful.
@GardenSanity3 жыл бұрын
🤣 Yes, we realize getting a dog might help -- but -- many of our neighbors who do have dogs said the rabbits don't seem to care about the dogs and still come into their yards. (And then the dogs chase them...and they probably seek refuge in ours!) Jury is still out on my possibly-sick Knock Out Rose...the ones in this video didn't include the possibly sick one. I saw the Pink Drift Roses at our local nursery: SO pretty -- totally agree!

Well, you definitely have me beat - I'm only 110-115 degrees here with very low humidity. You know, like an oven - but hey, it's all good. I've always loved baking. 🤣 Keep fighting the good fight against those pesky rabbits! I'm battling squirrels, mice, and opossums here. ☺️ Your garden flowers are beautiful, and I love your positive attitude and wry wit! Plus, that turtle at the end was gorgeous! Subscribing now and planning to watch some back videos, too, so I can see more of your garden. 😊 -- Kim

Thanks Kim, and nice to meet you here! I'll definitely head over to check out your channel! Yes, the baking is nuts. I was going to weed this morning, but we're in the middle of a heat advisory and my short time out there was SOUP humid, so forget it. 🥵And these weeds are all by the front curb too, so UGLY. But if everyone stays indoors then nobody will see them. Sounds like you've got a nice variety of wildlife to contend with. What do you use to try and keep them away?

@@GardenSanity I've been using tulle with great success for a couple of years now, but the squirrels simply won't leave my zucchini leaves alone this season! So I'm actually planning to enclose nine of my raised beds entirely (wooden posts, wire, gate) and use shadecloth on top and have a completely protected area. 😊 Hoping to finish that project by mid-July!

Wonder if rabbits rabbits eat the annual ageratum. I have some annual ageratum houstonianum and lots of rabbits. I can saw rabbits don’t touch Madagascar vinca/periwinkle 🌼
@GardenSanity2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info on rabbits not touching the vinca/periwinkle, Brett! Rabbits have never touched my annual ageratum, no matter which type of annual ageratum I happen to plant every year. (It varies depending upon where I purchase it each year.) And I've got a lot of rabbits running around tasting and eating things! Have the rabbits nibbled on your ageratum at all?
@bohnnco2 жыл бұрын
@@GardenSanity thanks! Last summer I tried some gomphrena thinking the flower is similar to an ageratum so perhaps bunnies wouldn’t bother. They were munched within hours. But I’ll take rabbits over voles - unfortunately I have both. 😎
@GardenSanity2 жыл бұрын
Fortunately I don’t have voles Brett, but rabbits are no fun for me! I tried Gomphrena too last year, but I kept them in large containers out of the rabbits’ reach. They didn’t do as well as they probably would have in the ground, unfortunately. They are so pretty, but sadly I won’t plant them again. 😕

Can I plant yucca in shade?

Hi Sammy - The Color Guard Yucca I have grows best in full sun. It can handle partial shade, but should get at least 4 to 6 hours of full sun each day. I hope this helps!

What kind of catmint did you order? From who did you order it? I’m trying to decide which variety to get and one variety seems to not be available at nearby garden centers.🤷♀️
@GardenSanity3 жыл бұрын
I ordered Cat’s Pajamas from Rare Roots online. Bluestone Perennials also has it online. I chose Cat’s Pajamas is it seems like a long bloomer, doesn’t seed, and is a smaller size. It wasn’t easy to choose, however!
@martinichip89693 жыл бұрын
@@GardenSanity I know what you mean. I was trying to decide between Cat’s Pajamas and Walkers Low. The goal is to cover daffodil leaves so I went with Walkers Low. The earlier blooms of Cat’s Pajamas was really hard to pass up but I may pick one up anyway if they become available locally. That’s how I roll, sometimes😃
@GardenSanity3 жыл бұрын
@@martinichip8969 I was leaning towards Walkers Low too -- same reason: for the daffodil foliage -- but the ones I saw for sale around here were HUGE. It scared me from buying them. But then I realized they should have cut them back before selling them. I think they might have been from last year's stock. Not sure. Having just planted my catmint, now I wish I would have bought many more of them!
@martinichip89693 жыл бұрын
@@GardenSanity The pot I bought was also pretty big but I cut them back and divided it. Their roots were wrapping around the pot so you can tell they are vigorous😃. I think for your space multiple CPs are good. It keeps with your tidy garden style while covering enough of your daffodil leaves.
@GardenSanity3 жыл бұрын
Now I wish I would have bought those larger catmints! Dividing them was a great idea. I will keep in mind that you think my garden is tidy, as it sometimes feels like it needs to be tidied up instead! 🤣😂
